View Full Version : How 'bout them Nets?
YankeePride 06-07-2003, 01:05 PM Enjoy your ring-less careers Kenny Anderson and Derrick Coleman. Even though it was just one win in the Finals, getting a split in San Antonio is all NJ wanted. Now they get to go to the comfy confines of home for 3 games.
As a LONG-suffering NJ fan, it is so much fun to watch these guys go out and get their first-ever Finals victory. Looking back on the days of Michael Ray Richardson, Darryl (Chocolate Thunder) Dawkins, Sam Bowie, Jack Haley .... ugh ... it sure is nice to see a great mix of trades and draft picks jel into an exciting unit.
Rock the Meadowlands, exit 16W, and the hidden grave of Jimmy Hoffa - we've got a pair of championships coming to the Garden State!

CAN I GET AN AMEN?!?!?!?!? lol
I agree. I have long been an NJ Nets fan, only to watch them suck for all these years. Finally, finally, somethign good is happening.
plunge 06-07-2003, 04:26 PM It is a relief. And so was last night. A true nail-biter to the very end! Let's Go Nets!...And tonight, Let's Go Devils!
If they both win, where will they have the victory parade?
It better not be in the parking lot.
stkmtimo 06-07-2003, 05:03 PM And it better not be in East Rutherford, NJ, way too small!
Tim
Arastis 06-07-2003, 05:37 PM It was a great game
podstock 06-07-2003, 07:31 PM I think the Nets have a good chance than they would've had against the Lakers, whom they don't match up well at all.
That was a good move by Byron to put Mutombo in; too bad Mutombo didn't play more in Game 1.
Those missed free throws are killing the Spurs, Duncan being 2-9 last night.
No team, since NBA went to a 2-3-2 format, has won all 3 middle games...so it's looking like the Nets will have to win another one on the road.
I'll be rooting for Byron's team!
RedMania 06-07-2003, 08:51 PM i hope they win the series
stkmtimo 06-07-2003, 08:56 PM All I can say is Let's go Nets...the pride of NJ.

Don't forget about Buck Williams, Otis Birdson, Mike O'koren, Mike Gminski and host of others. It has been a long time coming. I started going to Nets games when I was 11 yrs old in 1981 during the first year the Meadowlands opened. Go NETS!!!
stkmtimo 06-07-2003, 10:05 PM Back when it was Brendan Byrne Arena, right John? I remember those days!
Tim
ILuvSportsCards 06-07-2003, 10:10 PM lol I don't.
stkmtimo 06-07-2003, 10:27 PM Do you live in NJ? Have you heard of him? If not, he was a Governor of NJ from 1974-1982. Here's a pic of the arena: http://www.lera.com/bba1.html

john1170 06-08-2003, 12:00 AM Yes, it was the Brendan Byrne arena. I have lived in NJ my whole life. My first game there was against the Knicks and I still have the ticket stub. In fact , I have all my ticket stubs to every game I ever went to. It's amazing the face value of the ticket was $6.
ILuvSportsCards 06-08-2003, 12:19 AM Actually, I do live in NJ...but no, I haven't heard of him. Thanks for the information!!!
podstock 06-08-2003, 01:16 AM Kenny Anderson was your typical street player who just happened to have a bit more talent.
Much like Stephon Marbury, they're more interested in their own stats than the team.
Imagine how well the Wolves would've done if Marbury stayed with Garnett?
podstock 06-08-2003, 08:51 PM game 3 just started, 6-6 tie, but D. Robinson has 2 fouls already!
this should be fun!!
podstock 06-09-2003, 03:25 AM Everyone's been hyping Jason Kidd up b/c of the fantastic job he's done with the Nets....
but he is showing why he does not belong with the elite like Magic, Oscar Robertson, Isiah Thomas
He's more like a John Stockton --- great court vision, great quarterbacking skills, but can't shoot when they're needed.
dodgers03 06-10-2003, 04:33 PM New Jersey definetly needs a win in game 4 to stay in the series.
