Check out the sports section in today's NY Times on-line. There's an article about what you're wondering about.

There is already a whole thread about Griffey, so to try and not clog up the board. In the future try to reply in posts that have already been made. Thanks

I think he is gonna return this year. That three homer game puts the icing on the cake.

I don't think he will ever get back to hitting 56 homers and driving in 148. But I think 40+ and 120-130 RBI is still probable.

I think if he remains healthy, griffey can still put up some big numbers. hes just in early 30s. So dont count out Jr, because he can still play.

Griffey will probably never be as good as he was, I think, when healthy, he's still a 30-40 homerun 100-120 RBI type guy.

As long as Grif can stay immune to the media and all the hype around him being the player that he is, he'll do fine and hopefully pick up where he left off in 2000.

I think his career is over... with enough knee injuries u just can't do it... I know for a fact

I think he'll be able to grind out 3-5 more seasons; but do not think he does enough to warrant his place in the Hall of Fame.

What a shame. Such tremendous talent; whined about wanting to leave Seattle for home in Cincinnati, and the baseball gods, who must be Mariners fans, destroyed his career thereafter.

Atlantis, I think he dislocated his shoulder and last year hurt his hamstring, an injury that originated during his first playing year. I think his knee gave out on him in 2001 only.

IMO....Griffey needs to head back to the American League and be a DH. That would certainly cut down on his injuries which lately seem to be plentiful!!! Griffey is an awesome player, I just don't think he will ever be what he was a few years ago....

That's a good idea, AreaOne. I hadn't thought of that. If his shoulder heals well he could be headed there if the Reds want to get better pitching.

Unfortunately, it's the shoulder....so if he can't play the field, he's likely not going to hit with power like he used to

Griffey is a great hitter, but he's like the Guy in the Lawrence Fishburn movie Fragile!
