RedGoneWILD 08-29-2008, 04:15 PM I haven't read the article yet...but it should be no surprise to any NFL fan We invade every other stadium in the league and turn our "away" games into home games...I've heard of several teams implementing rules for fans who wish to purchase the Steelers tickets must also purchase tickets for another game to try & prevent the Steel invasion into their stadiums...haha, it doesnt work!!! Somebody commented about Super Bowl XL that they've never seen a homefield advantage in the big game like that...estimates were around 80% of the attendence were Steelers fans GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!! jeeptrader 08-29-2008, 04:22 PM I'm a little surprised that the tied the Packers........lol Go Pack Go! and congrats to the Steeler fans! RedGoneWILD 01-27-2009, 04:59 AM bumping this... Steelers ranked #1....look who's #32...haha Aikman_TheGreat 01-27-2009, 05:43 AM What hurt the Cowboys is the fact that there are a lot of "fair weather" fans. In the 90's everyone loved the Cowboys, they were even called "America's Team". Now that the Cowboys arent that good anymore, everyone all of a sudden hates them haha. madman1978 01-27-2009, 07:54 AM No 1 Steelers No 32 Cardinals ? - I guess they have a bunch of band wagon Fans! dfr52 01-27-2009, 10:16 AM What hurt the Cowboys is the fact that there are a lot of "fair weather" fans. In the 90's everyone loved the Cowboys, they were even called "America's Team". Now that the Cowboys arent that good anymore, everyone all of a sudden hates them haha. I'm not too surprised. Texas Stadium and it's fans ever never been known for crazy behavior. The Cowboys have their fans but their not to rowdy like other team's fans. dfr52 01-27-2009, 10:18 AM I'm surprised the Browns were #3. I live in the area and know there is a good following but I figured losing would hurt that some. stephenheger 01-27-2009, 10:52 AM Living in the Northwest and due to the divisional realignment I have only seen one Steelers game and that was in 2003 when they played the Seahawks. Half the stadium was Steelers fans. It's amazing the amount of fans they have elsewhere... Aikman_TheGreat 01-27-2009, 02:45 PM I'm not surprised the Cardinals are #32. I lived in Phoenix for 4 years and went to the Cardinal-Cowboys game, and most of the stadium was blue. selby56 01-27-2009, 04:57 PM No 1 Steelers No 32 Cardinals ? - I guess they have a bunch of band wagon Fans! And like the majority of "Steeler Nation" isn't made up of bandwagoners? I'll admit the Steelers have some diehard fans and the city is crazy for football, but if your a Steelers fan, unless your from Pittsburgh, your a bandwagoner. And I personally know only one Steelers fan from Pittsburgh. madman1978 01-27-2009, 05:03 PM And like the majority of "Steeler Nation" isn't made up of bandwagoners? And I personally know only one Steelers fan from Pittsburgh. Well for myself i have met tons of Steelers Fans in Conn and Mass and for the most part NO "Steeler Nation" is not band wagoners Steelers fan here since '74 most likely longer then you have been alive selby56 01-27-2009, 05:05 PM I'm not saying that "Steeler Nation" is nothing but bandwagoners, but a good majority of it is. Are you from Pittsburgh? mstng99tim 01-27-2009, 06:29 PM I live in Pittsburgh and have lived here my entire life. Just because you don't live in Pittsburgh doesn't mean you're a bandwagon fan. When all of the steel mills here shut down, people that worked in the mills left the city to look for new jobs in other cities but still kept their passion for the Steelers and have passed that passion down from generation to generation. That's the main reason there are so many Steeler fans across the country. selby56 01-27-2009, 08:46 PM I live in Pittsburgh and have lived here my entire life. Please read my post...I said that your a bandwagoner if your a Steelers fan and you have never once LIVED in Pittsburgh, have no family in Pittsburgh, or any relation to the city at all. I never said that unless you LIVE there, your a bandwagoner, cause thats obviously not true. I live in South Carolina, but I'm from Cleveland, thus I'm a Browns fan. My next door neighbor is from Washington, PA (just curious, you near there?) and he is a Steelers fan. He isn't a bandwagoner. If you have at one point lived in Pittsburgh, and your a Steelers fan, that is understandable. But, if your just some average Joe in Iowa thats a Steelers fan, and you aren't from Pittsburgh, you have no family from Pittsburgh, you have NEVER even been to Pittsburgh, and you like the team because they won 5 Superbowls, thats a bandwagoner. lumm0x 01-27-2009, 08:57 PM Please read my post...I said that your a bandwagoner if your a Steelers fan and you have never once LIVED in Pittsburgh, have no family in Pittsburgh, or any relation to the city at all. What a ridiculous post. There are about a million reasons why people become fans. You are going to tell me a guy who lives his whole life in say Los Angeles and grows up in the 70's as a kid and falls in love with the Steelers and is now in his 40's and has kept the passion through the good and bad since that time, lives and breathes for the games yet does not have the financial means to travel to the city and see his team is not a true fan? I guess you get a free pass if you happen to have been born there, move away and you get the delirious right to declare yourself a better fan than the hypothetical scenario I described? I am by no means a Steelers fan, but I can relate to some of what I said. You clearly have no idea what being a fan is about if you think it is geographically related only. selby56 01-27-2009, 09:20 PM What a ridiculous post. Being from the place is alot better than saying "Yeah, I just like them because they won all these championships." I may have worded my post wrong. How about we go by this. If you like a team just because they have won a ton of Championships, and that is the only real reason, then your NOT a fan. Sound fair enough? madman1978 01-27-2009, 09:21 PM Please read my post...I said that your a bandwagoner if your a Steelers fan and you have never once LIVED in Pittsburgh, have no family in Pittsburgh, or any relation to the city at all. Bandwagoner : In sports, someone who shamelessly cheers for a particular team not because he likes them or follows them faithfully, but only because that particular team is the "popular" choice or has been or is the top team in their specific sport recently. When that team which bandwagoners follow falls from grace, they gleefully jump on the next teams bandwagon and cheer for that team. lets see those definitions dont seem to match selby56 01-27-2009, 09:24 PM Bandwagoner : In sports, someone who shamelessly cheers for a particular team not because he likes them or follows them faithfully, but only because that particular team is the "popular" choice or has been or is the top team in their specific sport recently. All I was saying is, if your actually from Pittsburgh, your more than likely a true Steelers fan. Aikman_TheGreat 01-27-2009, 09:30 PM I dont think he was calling the Steeler fans on this board bandwagon fans, just others. Its ok guys, we can calm down now haha. madman1978 01-27-2009, 09:30 PM Being from the place is alot better than saying "Yeah, I just like them because they won all these championships." Sound fair enough? I have been reading your posts and and was wondering why dosent this guy understand this! How hard can it be to understand someone is a DIE HARD fan of team many miles from them. Then it dawned on me Your a Browns fan. You will never get it! selby56 01-27-2009, 09:31 PM Plus, if you read my last description of a bandwagoner, about a random guy that lives in Iowa, and only likes the team cause of the Superbowls. Is that not a bandwagoner? I probably should have left out the whole part of being from Pittsburgh and all that, I was just trying to make a point that most likely, living in Pittsburgh or being from there means your a true Steeler fan. Aikman_TheGreat 01-27-2009, 09:36 PM I think its possible for a person to be a die hard fan of a team and now be where they're from. But most of the time they are fans of a team for a certain reason, most of the time its because this team is winning a lot. So if thats the case most of the time those fans will stop liking that team once the good times have left. Take the Cowboys for instance, they had a ton of fans everywhere in the 90's, not not so much anymore. Must have been a lot of bandwagon fans. madman1978 01-27-2009, 09:42 PM Plus, if you read my last description of a bandwagoner, about a random guy that lives in Iowa, and only likes the team cause of the Superbowls. No it is not! I live in New England and I started enjoying football when i was 9. which at that time the Pats sucked. In fact they had to work to reach that lelvel back then. At that time Sttelers and Cowboys were the teams to follow and since everyone else loved the 'Boys i had to be different! I have never been to Pittsburgh however I do have plans to amke the trip and many more after that I am sure. ask anyone who knows me I am a DIE HARD FAN of the Steelers 35 years later! selby56 01-27-2009, 09:53 PM I have been reading your posts and and was wondering why dosent this guy understand this! How hard can it be to understand someone is a DIE HARD fan of team many miles from them. Then it dawned on me Your a Browns fan. You will never get it!Whatever dude. Read my posts. I used an example that if someone likes a team ONLY because they won a Superbowl, that they are a bandwagoner. Is that not what a bandwagoner is by your little definition? Someone that likes a team that is doing well at the time? I'll explain my logic again, and please let me know if this doesn't make sense to you: If your a fan of a team ONLY because they have a lot of championships, then your a bandwagoner. I was not directing my comments toward you or anyone on this board, but people that live near me and go to school with me that ONLY like the Steelers because they won the Superbowl a few years back and because they have another 4 from back in the days. I probably shouldn't have used the parts about being from Pittsburgh or living there or anything, but I was trying to use an example of a true fan compared to a bandwagoner. I'm sorry if you misintrepreted my post, maybe I should word things out better. My logic is in bold in the first few sentences, if you agree with it, awsome. If not, please explain what doesn't make sense to you. 11chaos 01-27-2009, 10:41 PM And like the majority of "Steeler Nation" isn't made up of bandwagoners? I'll admit the Steelers have some diehard fans and the city is crazy for football, but if your a Steelers fan, unless your from Pittsburgh, your a bandwagoner. And I personally know only one Steelers fan from Pittsburgh. You have a very delusional look at this. Almost like you are trying to start something. Just because a fan doesn't live in that area or from there doesn't make them a Bandwagon fan. I have never lived in Pittsburgh and yet I have been a fan since 1972. So please stop trying to start stuff, we don't need it. selby56 01-27-2009, 10:49 PM It wasn't my intention to start anything. 11chaos 01-27-2009, 10:54 PM It wasn't my intention to start anything. Trust me I love a good discussion but the way it came across was slightly confrontational as you can tell by the way some have responded to your initial post in this thread. Trust me soon there will be discussion threads created here where the SCF community will be looking for their best Football fan and some similiar threads. selby56 01-27-2009, 10:58 PM Trust me I love a good discussion but the way it came across was slightly confrontational as you can tell by the way some have responded to your initial post in this thread. My mistake. When I read my initial post over again, I did come off kinda strong, and I'll admit I should have gotten my point across differently. RedGoneWILD 01-28-2009, 01:28 AM He has a Youth Football League? yeah, that's pretty sweet to follow up on the fans not from pittsburgh being bandwagoners...there are always always always going to be bandwagon fans who cling to the most recent champion. i have friends like that. i also had a friend who would jump ship when a team became good...he became a cowboys fan when they got Emmitt Smith and stopped rooting for them when jimmy johnson left. then he was a packers fan until they lost to the broncos in the super bowl. then he became a jets fan until parcells left. then he was an eagles fan for a couple seasons, and i think lately is rooting for the chargers....true story lol Most of my friends are steelers or eagles fans, but i also have lots of friends that were born and raised in pennsylvania who are complete die hard fans of teams from all over the country...one is a detroit lions fan (and still owns it) because of barry sanders...one has been a dolphins fan his whole life because of marino...a few are 49ers fans because of their dynasty...one is a bears fan, his brother is a vikings fan...none of these people are from any of these places with the exception of one of the 49ers fans whose parents were from san francisco...it seems like they picked a team when they were young, most likely because of their favorite player, and just stuck with that team BobSanders021 01-31-2009, 11:45 PM And like the majority of "Steeler Nation" isn't made up of bandwagoners? In one of his videos back in the day (I think it was "Gin & Juice") he had on a Penguins jersey and I've seen him wearing a Pirates a dozen times. He has a reality show on tv and he had on a Marc-Andre Fleury Pens jersey the other day. MeteoriteGuy 02-01-2009, 01:37 AM Parker is out of gas, Ben averaged a single touchdown a game (along with a fumble and an interceptions). Hines is great....too bad you can't ever get a whole season out of hm. Yep, Steelers are #1. MeteoriteGuy 02-01-2009, 01:40 AM I'm just messing with you guys....mostly. Hard to call the Steelers the most complete team...but one might very well be able to call then #1 in 24 hrs. |
