View Full Version : DEVILS FANS HAVE NO CLASS AT ALL!!!
bigl0l8477 06-10-2003, 05:32 PM i just wanna say that it was terrible for the devils fans to boo JS Giguere like that for winning the conn smythe. maybe brodeur couldve won it, but i feel the league made the right choice. it showed no class at all for the fans to boo giguere. i never felt worse for a pro athlete than i did for giguere when he was crying and got boo'd...i wanted to fly to new jersey and punch as many devils fans in the face that i could...
but what do you expect from people from new jersey?
gioperation 06-10-2003, 05:36 PM lol, I thought john madden deserved it, esp the he was shutting down his oppenents...
redlegs2144 06-10-2003, 06:31 PM ---To Biglol---
Let me guess your a ducks fan? -lol- Yeah they probably shouldn't have booed him but if my wings won it and someone else got the con smythe I would be upset too.
bigl0l8477 06-10-2003, 06:54 PM im actually not a ducks fan at all, im a penguins fan (yes i know they suck)...but JS giguere singlehandedly beat the #1 and #2 seeds in the west and took the ducks to game seven of the stanley cup finals. i think brodeur couldve won it, but i think the league made the right choice with giguere.
i also used to LOVE john madden until i saw how much he dives during the finals..i still like him a little bit but not as much as i used to
redlegs2144 06-10-2003, 07:00 PM It's good to see fans like you. People who honestly support teams through thick and thin. Now a days people are so fair weathered it is disgusting. Anyway what do you think the chances are they will keep Mario?
podstock 06-10-2003, 08:03 PM Just be glad it wasn't the Raiders fans; you might have seen a stabbing or two
lolol
Rangers #3 06-10-2003, 11:28 PM People rarely stay with their team through hard times, it's human nature.
ILuvSportsCards 06-11-2003, 12:49 AM I am from NJ. I mean your talking about having no class, but yet you say "What do you expect from people from New Jersey"? Hipocritical. Practice what ya preach.
On a lighter note, I did feel he deserved it (the Conn Smythe) and I don't think that he should have been boo'ed. Yes it was wrong, but to say what you said about people from New Jersey is just plan wrong. Others were clapping too, so instead of mentioning the good ones as well, we only talk about the bad ones.
Jakeklock0019 06-11-2003, 12:55 AM yeah now i wish the Ducks would have won since Giggy beat all 3 teams by himself and then got more applause from the Devils players than the fans...... and learning that Steinbrenner owned part of the team didnt make me root for them either.
podstock 06-11-2003, 12:57 AM I too did not know that Steinbrenner was part owner of Devils?!?!
how he'd manage to stay out of spotlight?
Players normally have more class than fans; and Devils players showed their class by applauding for Giggy
Enigma 06-11-2003, 02:09 AM Steinbrenner owns the Yankees, the Nets, and the Devils in some fashion....it's that YankeeNets Corp thigamajig that he is a majority owner of that gives him a stake in the Devs....heck, the company owns the Continental Airlines Arena......
RedMania 06-11-2003, 02:31 AM martin deserved it
Jakeklock0019 06-11-2003, 03:37 AM Not more than Giguere.

redlegs2144 06-11-2003, 03:42 AM Gigueir was the reason they got to the finals. If it wasn't for him the ducks would have been the ones swept by the wings. Give JS his props, his mom isn't doing well and that could have easily distracted him, and made him preform averagely
Jakeklock0019 06-11-2003, 03:44 AM ducks wouldnt have made it past 1st round without him. especially against MN. the reason they swept was because of J-s G
bigl0l8477 06-11-2003, 01:22 PM redlegs2144:
i think mario is going to retire. he came out and said they only team he would play for next year is the penguins. plus i dont think he wants to be a part of the pens rebuilding process (they are gonna be sooooooo bad next year). but im kind of excited for the rebuilding process. hopefully they can do a good job of drafting and the pens will have an exciting team once again.
ILUVSPORTSCARDS:
i will admit that i did go a little too far describing the devils fans. it was hypocritical of me. i was just extremely pissed off because i'm not a big devils fan, and i really felt giguere deserved better treatment. if i was i devils fan i think i'd rather have the stanley cup than the conn smythe. i do apologize for stereotyping new jersey people like that...but you gotta admit...what they did to giguere was wrong
ILuvSportsCards 06-11-2003, 11:01 PM Yes, I do agree what was done was wrong. Without Giguere, the Ducks wouldn't have made as far as they do. Thank for apoligizing as most of the people in New Jersey are actually very accomadating to out of towners. I was disappointed that some fans boo'ed. Others though did cheer.
YankeePride 06-12-2003, 10:35 AM The fans of any team would have booed the opposing team's player for winning the MVP award. If you honestly, really and truly don't think that that's true, then you probably also think it's ok to drive 55 in the left lane of a 4-lane highway because it's the speed limit.
I said to my gal right before they made the announcement, "wait until you hear the boos when they name Giguere the MVP", and sure enough it happened. They have every right to believe that their guy is just as valuable to the Devils. Sometimes you just have to think a bit to see the rationale ... I'm not saying that J.S. didn't deserve it, but 7 shutouts by Brodeur? How about the fact that it was a record total, and that to a man the Devils know that they can play the way they do without pressure to score 4 goals a game because they don't need that many. There are intangibles to that you just don't understand if you've never played a team sport, and if you have and still don't get it, then shame on you. Knowing that someone with a lifetime GAA of 2 in the playoffs is back there makes you very relaxed when playing, which elevates the team performance overall. In game 7, when the Devils got their first goal, I said if they get one more, it's over. Imagine what the confidence translates to as a player! Just because everyone has come to expect it year after year after year, doesnt' mean it's not MVP-type stuff.
