I just opened a Hobby box of '08 Absolute at my local shop, witnessed by the shop owner and I pulled this:

Is that not the Rookie Jersey Collection logo usually used on the Exclusive Target Jersey Cards they insert into retail packs and blasters? It's an unnumbered retail jersey. I'm a little cheesed.

The rest of the box wasn't much. One auto, no patches, and nothing numbered out of less than /35. Seems like you at least get some kind of patch card or a /25 card in a box from the breaks I've seen. Seems like maybe something decent was swapped out for this retail card.

I'll post the rest of the break in the box break forum later after I fire off an e-mail to Donruss.

Ive seen a lot of stuff like this this year with a lot of products. Someone posted getting a topps chrome tom brady target exclusive auto out of a hobby pack. QC has gotta be really down for stuff like this to happen.

For anyone who wanted to see the resolution to my exciting story:

This is what Donruss sent me as a replacement for the Steve Slaton Jersey.

Kevin O'Connell RPM Jersey/Ball/Jersey Auto /299

Better than a kick in the nuts I suppose. :-)

That's a very nice replacement. Donruss is leaps and bounds ahead of the other companies when it comes to issues like this.
