View Full Version : Anderson Silva pondering retirement? angel0430 09-23-2008, 11:24 AM http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/mma_experts/post/Anderson-Silva-pondering-retirement-?urn=mma,109549 tyler91999 09-23-2008, 01:21 PM Surely would miss him. Hope it isn't so but I can see why. Lack of any real competition lately. Would love to see him fight Forest Griffin. The way Griffin takes beatings I think it would be a good fight. I know different weight classes but just saying. If you could put him against any other fighter who would it be......besides Fedor. angel0430 09-23-2008, 02:16 PM Right now, I have no idea since he has been so dominant. fdgowin 09-23-2008, 03:07 PM Actually, if GSP was in shape, that could be an interesting fight... But, I'd really like to see him fight Michael Bisping! :boxing: tyler91999 09-23-2008, 04:15 PM GSP I would like to see. I think Silva would be a big favorite over Bisping. jamesrud7380 09-23-2008, 06:37 PM Great fighter. I'd hate to see him retire. I'm glad he's willing to do a few more fights though. hector234 09-23-2008, 07:37 PM Actually, if GSP was in shape, that could be an interesting fight... But, I'd really like to see him fight Michael Bisping! :boxing: Come on now, Bisping would get killed. hector234 09-23-2008, 07:38 PM What about Wanderlei vs Anderson? That would be interesting, since they both spent years training together in Cute Boxe. I would hate to see Anderson retire dique diablo son 09-23-2008, 11:38 PM What about Wanderlei vs Anderson? That would be interesting, since they both spent years training together in Cute Boxe. I would hate to see Anderson retire Wont ever happen for that reason.... Brazilians dont like to fight each other its a pride thing especially since they trained together Wand has been in Anderson corner before in Pride and vice/versa. BTT and Chute Boxe will beef any day though! And anderson would touch forrests jaw.... which has been proven to be made of glass. I still think rampage won that fight. He'll get past Rashad but if they give him Wand or Machida he will lose. JRsDugout 09-24-2008, 12:32 AM He's not retiring in 2009, his agent has reported the retirement to be false and stated Anderson has 6 fights on his UFC contract and he will in the minimum finish that contract, (5 Fights after he beats Cote). hector234 09-24-2008, 12:34 AM Wont ever happen for that reason.... I hope Evans wins though. dique diablo son 09-24-2008, 12:58 AM The judges gave forrest the 1st round...... when he got floored and allmost finished?????? Evans is nasty but Forrests biggest strength is his size and I think that will come into play against Rashad. Rashad is good but he's a small 205. Griffins huuuge. I wanna see Moussai fight Anderson though. If anyone doesnt know who he is he just won the DREAM middleweight tourney against some pretty stiff competition. Pretty much anyone in that tourney against Anderson would be better then Cote. Im not hating on the dude but it a waste of a fight hes gonna get mauled. Rampage did win that fight. I hope Evans wins though. fdgowin 09-24-2008, 01:11 AM GSP I would like to see. I think Silva would be a big favorite over Bisping. I do too, I just want to see Bisping get beat up!! fdgowin 09-24-2008, 01:19 AM Cote has a hard head. Did you see his first fight against Tito? That was a wild one. I would really like to see Cung Le in the UFC. He's been pretty impressive. http://www.cungle.com/sv/html/website/WebSite_8/images/cung_le_mma_highlight.mov dique diablo son 09-24-2008, 02:11 AM Tito's not known for pure violence like Anderson though. Tito has mainly been a take you down and grind out a decision guy. Cung Le would be a decent matchup for Anderson standing but once it hits the floor (which Anderson would do he's a very intelligent fighter) Cung will be WAY out of his element. At 185 Anderson is pretty much untouchable. I'd like to see him fight Ryo Chonan again even though he's lost a step. He's known for the highlight-reel heel hook he threw on Anderson but he dominated every step of that fight even before the heel hook. Anderson has taken his game to a new level since then however. Oh and if you wanna see Bisping get ko'ed dont sleep on Leben. He's got a chin of steel and his left hand is vicious. But if he gets past Leben I'd assume they will throw him to Anderson. Cote has a hard head. Did you see his first fight against Tito? That was a wild one. I would really like to see Cung Le in the UFC. I don't give Cote much of a chance. I hope it's a good fight, but I think Silva is on a higher level than Cote. hector234 09-24-2008, 05:29 AM Tito's not known for pure violence like Anderson though. Bisping is a good fighter, he wouldn't stand a chance against Silva. Leben presents a lot of problems for Bisping, as you mentioned. Not to mentioned that he has imrpoved his striking in the clinch. Ha, I remember when Chonan made Silva tap. You're right, Silva dominated and got caught. I still Henderson could've given Silva a run for his money. He just got careless in the 2nd round. He dominated the 1st round dique diablo son 09-24-2008, 12:56 PM I was actually saying Chonan Dominated. Dominated was a little strong but the standup was competitive and (Chonan kept landing a right and he ate all of Andersons punches and kicks) and besides the first when Anderson took his back and did NOTHING was controlled by Chonan. It was a very close fight and if it went to decision I think the judges would have given it to Chonan just because he worked so well on the ground and hung in there on his feet. Watch it on youtube it was closer than yah think. Seems like Anderson will lose the first round only to come out in the second and rip your face off. Travis Lutter could have gotten the fight stopped if he kept punching from the mount instead of going for that stupid armbar. Anderson then decided to put him in a triangle choke and when he wouldnt tap tried to smash his skull with elbows:boxing: hector234 09-24-2008, 04:47 PM Yeah, I remember that. It was almost as sad to watch as Franklin getting kneed repeatedly by Silva dique diablo son 09-24-2008, 05:06 PM Franklin had the fear of god in his eyes about 2 minutes into both fights. You can literally see the look in his eyes change. He went in confident both times and then quickly realized he was in a whole bunch of trouble. Haha theyre gonna run out of people to feed to Anderson. We could see Takase onea these days. He slapped a real tight triangle on Anderson back in the day. hector234 09-24-2008, 05:10 PM I still wish the UFC would make an effort to get Takanori Gomi. dique diablo son 09-24-2008, 05:24 PM Why? So BJ can wipe the floor with him again. I even think a Frank Edgar or Tyson Grifin would destroy him. He's way over-hyped IMO. hector234 09-24-2008, 05:33 PM Why? So BJ can wipe the floor with him again. I even think a Frank Edgar or Tyson Grifin would destroy him. He's way over-hyped IMO. Hell no. Gomi would destroy Edgar and Griffin. And Penn fought him a long time ago. I think Gomi would give Penn a run for his money dique diablo son 09-24-2008, 05:44 PM Gomi is trash on the ground BJ is world class. Not only that but BJ outboxed him. Cmon Nick Diaz wiped the floor with Gomi. Not hating on Nick he's actually a friend of mine but still. Hell no. Gomi would destroy Edgar and Griffin. And Penn fought him a long time ago. I think Gomi would give Penn a run for his money hector234 09-24-2008, 05:56 PM Gomi is trash on the ground BJ is world class. Not only that but BJ outboxed him. Cmon Nick Diaz wiped the floor with Gomi. Not hating on Nick he's actually a friend of mine but still. Gomi was out of it on that fight. He was gassed after the 1st round. I think if they fought again, Gomi would win. I read KJ Noons got stripped of his belt for refusing to fight Diaz dique diablo son 09-24-2008, 06:19 PM Gomi was out of it on that fight. I read KJ Noons got stripped of his belt for refusing to fight Diaz He gassed in that fight because he was throwing his best at Nick and Nick wouldn't go anywhere. And yah Noons got stripped for being a huge pu$$y. I'm actually going to be hanging with Nick on Friday he's coming to the East Coast to corner my boy. |
