Well I was sitting around thinking a couple weeks ago. I know a good bit of our members are younger collectors who can't really afford higher end products. Even for the older collectors we have, it's hard to drop $100+ on a box nowadays. I wanted to come up with a way to make high end products affordable to all users so I came up with the SCF Pack Sell.

What I'm doing is, I'm shopping around to get the best possible deal on high end boxes. I'm then going to offer up the packs for sale to our members at my cost. I AM NOT MAKING MONEY ON THIS AND IN MOST CASES I'LL EVEN BE LOSING MONEY! Since I'm not pulling a profit here, you will be VERY hard pressed to find these packs for any cheaper than what I'm selling them for.

The only thing that I ask in return is when you buy a pack and receive it, you report back to me what you got. This will then serve a double purpose as I'll make box breaks out of what came from the packs.

I'm starting out with 2 test boxes. If things go well, I'll continue to do SCF Pack Sells. The first 2 boxes that we will start out with are 2004 Donruss Timelines Baseball and 2003 Playoff Contenders Football. The Timelines is a little steap since there's only 4 packs per box but every pack contains 1 auto and 1 gu. The Playoff Contenders box contains 24 packs and on average yields at least 4 auto's per box with various inserts also.

The Donruss Timelines packs will sell for $35 a pack.

The Playoff Contenders packs will sell for $5 a pack.

Those prices included delivery. If you want insurance and/or DC on the packs, you will have to pay extra.

I will accept payment in form of PayPal (NON-CC), Check, Money Order or Cash (at your own risk). Because I'm trying to keep cost as far down as possible and losing money in most cases, I will NOT be responsible for lost/damaged packs. If you want to make sure that doesn't happen, then purchase insurance. All packs will be shipped in bubble mailers.

So I don't have to run to the Post Office 6 days a week, Monday will be the designated shipping date. I go to the Post Office more during the week and will mail packs when I do. If I receive your payment on Thursday though and I have no reason to go to the Post Office on Friday or Saturday, your pack(s) will not be mailed out untill Monday.

Here is how the pack selection will work. Each pack will be numbered. When you send payment, include to me a list of 3 numbers. If your number is available, you will get that certain # pack. If not, then I'll contact you with an updated pack # availability and you can choose then. Obviously since PayPal is instant, someone sending via PayPal will have a better chance of getting that # pack than someone sending payment through snail mail.

I'll try to keep the pack availability updated as much as possible but as you all know, sometimes crap happens.

that's a good idea, not to be rude or anything but see if you can get a grid put up like they have on scs so we can see what everyone pulled.

also you can get 03 leaf rookies and stars football (which i highly recommmend) off ebay for no more than $55. i got one for $48 about a month ago and loved every second of the break. also contenders and sp authentic give a good bang for the buck

I plan on making a seperate page like the NPN page to show the box breaks.

Leaf R&S does seem like a good box to do but it's sitting on the cheap side. $55 a box really isn't that much at all nowadays to buy a box for. I really wanted to stick with the high end products to give people a chance to open a pack of something they normally could not afford.

I did prebuy 2 boxes of SP Authentic hoops. It goes live March 24th so depending on how these 2 boxes do, I may or may not do a box of the SP Authentic. That stuff is nice though... 2 auto's per box. 1 rookie auto & 1 star auto (with Jordan and all kinds of oldies). It also has those rookie thread cards that EVERYONE always wants. I haven't seen the odds yet on how many of those you get per box but I'm sure it's at least 1.

Hey Iggy, does any of the proceeds you make go to SCF? If so, I wouldn't mind getting a Donruss Timeline pack. Or does the money go back into the money spent for purchasing the box??

Just wondering. Either way im interested in buying a pack.

Bryan and I fronted the money on these boxes as testing the water. So all payment now of packs is going back to paying us. If we continue to do it, the money will just keep getting recycled into buying other boxes. No money is made on these boxes though and in most cases I'm going to lose some money to keep the pack price as cheap as possible.

You figure with the Contenders box, the cheapest I've seen them on ebay lately would be $115 after shipping. With 24 packs available and it costing me about a buck to mail the packs to you who buy 1, that's about $24 for mailing. So I'll have around $140 into the Contenders box (taking a little bit away for people buying multiple packs). $5 times the 24 packs = $120 total revenue brought in. I'll be out $20 on the Contenders box... which to me is worth it if it gets the purpose of getting high end packs to people who normally can't afford them.

Yes, each pack is like 3 mini packs. One pack has 1 card that is an auto. The second pack is 1 card that has a GU. The third pack is a pack of 3 base/insert cards.

$35 is a little on the steep for a pack but considering what you get in it, they are pretty nice.

I cannot tell a lie... SCS is where I got the general idea. I don't know if they make money off their packs or not but I figured I'd borrow parts of the idea and tweak it. Seems like a win/win situation to me... you get to buy high end products at the cheapest price you'll probably ever see (since I'm selling at cost or below) while it gives the sites some killer box breaks.

LOL, I HAD a killer hookup. I was banging Contenders around $95/box, which I'm still waiting for 3 boxes to get here. The week after I opened the store, Contenders went from $95 to $139, so needless to say, I'm gonna hold off on the store until the new stuff comes out. The first box of Contenders was gone instantly, and the guys managed to pull 6 autos from the box, including a $175 Charles Rogers.

Yeah I remember seeing that break. Turned out to be a great box! I'm having a hellova time finding a Contenders box under $125. Seems like they're drying up.
