i think that the mets should get a better catcher and put piazza at forst base.

maclax1212

they def. should

piazza is one of the pemiere catchers in the majors. they don't need a first baseman they have mo. he is goin to be good this year because he trimmed down a little

maclax1212
03-09-2003, 04:33 PM
it doesnt matter goirish( whoever u r) i think that mo will have a good year but they can find someone better. piazza will be a better 1st baseman then mo and they can find a better hitting catcher then mo vaughn can hit :fro: :hot:

They should leave Piazza as Catcher because he is the best hitting catcher in the majors, and leaving him there means they can have another power hitter like Mo at 1st. Move Piazza to 1st would just weaken the offense.

Piazza has only 16 HRs to tie Fisk for most as a catcher. Leave him alone as catcher and think about it next season. Though Vaughn is contracted for the next two years I think and they're bringing up a minor league player who's supposed to be good who is supposed to replace Vaughn.

nyyanks... get over yourself... Yankee fans are in the minority here! GO METS!!!

Anyhow, Piazza will not be leaving Catcher any time soon. That's a fact that we all just need to accept. Mo isn't going anywhere either, for now, but that doesn't mean that he might not disappear before the end of the season. His contract is up at the end of the season, and honestly, I doubt that Art will want to keep him. Time to get a younger, trimmer, faster, better all around 1st baseman.

If the Yankeesa and the rest of the AL are "*ussies" then why didn't your big tough Piazza fight Clemens when that tank threw that bat at your femine friend. Also why did the AL win the last 5 of 7 World Series, the Yankees taking credit for four of those!!!

Well if he was a "*ussy" like u put it he wouldn't have thrown the bat. Are you asking why Clemens didn't go after Piazza? because why would he, Piazza was the one who just got buzzed by a 95 mph fastball!! If Piazza was a real man he would have had a brawl with Clemens and beat him brutally, but he knew Clemens would have knocked him out because Clemens is a real MAN!!

obviously he wouldnt care b/c he tried to kill him with the sharpe end of a broken bat! so it was try to hurt him with a bat or get smacked up in the face a few times and get suspended or somethin

Yea i know Clemens threw Piazzas broken bat at Piazza!! Clemens isn't a baby, Piazza is he has to hold press conferences to defend his sexual preferences!! Besides that was Joe Torres decision to not pitch Clemens, if Clemens had the choice he would have not only pitched but threw one of his heaters right between Piazza's eyes!!!

nyyanks... I think we all get it, you like the Yankees... I for one don't give a damn that you like the Yanks. Great for you! The only time I actually care about the Yanks is when they're playing the Mets... and unless we're in a Subway Series... I hope the Yanks do win some games. I don't know about you... but the Subway World Series was awesome! My office overlooks the parade route... and it was pretty cool to watch, despite the fact that the Mets weren't the ones being celebrated.

I can't imagine you wouldn't like to have another hometown World Series? And if that's the case... stop bad mouthing the Mets... complain about the BoSox for a while... at least they have a chance at making your life suck during the season.

Thanks for giving nyyanks the :explicit: He's got a one-track mind.

I didn't like the Subway Series. The Mets deserved more for being in the series while the focus in NY was mainly on it being a subway series. Had it only been the Mets in that World Series!

You New Yorkers Crack me up! I can't knock a loyal fan though. Just remember, everyone think their team is the ONLY team. I for one didn't know what kind of torture chamber I got myself into when I idolized Wade Boggs as a kid and became a die hard Red Sox fan.

It hurts sometimes.

Do you hear about the brawl between Mota and Piazza?

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/03/13/sports/baseball/13METS.html?tntemail0

I'm surprised the umpire didn't give Mota a warning after the first inside pitch that had the fans groan.

What's wrong with Mota??

Along with Mota and Piazza's bone he wants to pick (almost literally), I'm sure there's hostility from the Dodgers about not having Piazza anymore. Too bad.

piazza might be one of the worst defensive catchers in the game but cant argue with his bat

plunge
03-13-2003, 08:52 AM
I wouldn't say the worst. There are a lot worse. He's doesn't have the best throwing arm but he's got a lot of resilience if he gets injured and that helps him with his offense. A lot of times he plays when he's banged up from foul tips. Kinda hard to grip the bat when that's going on, right?

You know who I pray to? Joe Pesci. Joe Pesci. Two reasons; first of all, I think he's a good actor. Okay. To me, that counts. Second; he looks like a guy who can get things done. Joe Pesci doesn't EFF around. Doesn't EFF around. In fact, Joe Pesci came through on a couple of things that God was having trouble with. For years I asked God to do something about my noisy neighbor with the barking dog. Joe Pesci straightened that ****-sucker out with one visit.
I noticed that of all the prayers I used to offer to God, and all the prayers that I now offer to Joe Pesci, are being answered at about the same 50 percent rate. Half the time I get what I want. Half the time I don't. Same as God 50-50. Same as the four leaf clover, the horse shoe, the rabbit's foot, and the wishing well. Same as the mojo man. Same as the voodoo lady who tells your fortune by squeezing the goat's testicles. It's all the same; 50-50. So just pick your superstitions, sit back, make a wish and enjoy yourself.

its tru his arm does suck big time but he gets knocked around alot..between getting hit at bat, trying to block balls in the dirt, and getting plowed at plays at the plate...after all that he can get up and hit a few homers for all us here in ny...but he still does suck behind the plate except when it comes to a play at the plate then he stands his ground and keeps the ball most of the time

What about calling a game? How he complements the pitchers? Being able to work with whoever is on the mound from Leiter to Benitez? I've gotta a much better appreciation for catchers since I started reading Tim McCarver's memoir. I think the catcher is the most underrated position in baseball if not in all of sports.
