Instructions

This group break will be done as a team break. That means there will be 15 slots and each slot will get 2 teams. Slot position will be slated via random order and the teams will be selected by a draft as seen below.

Cards will be divided as follows:
1. All cards will be sorted via the team whose jersey the player is pictured in.

2. If a card displays a player in a jersey other than an MLB jersey, card will be added to the pile of the team listed on the card. Should there not be a team, player will be placed with his current team. In the event the player does not have a team, card will be assigned to former team.

3. In the event there are multiple players are pictured on the card, then card will go to the pile that has the least amount of hits. If the number is the same, then the card will be randomly given to one of the teams.

4. In the event redemptions are pulled, they will be randomly given to one of the piles in the draft unless the redemption specifically states the player(s) the redemption is for.

5. If the event cards are pulled that have no ties to baseball, they will be randomly placed with one of the teams if no team designation appears on the card.

All slots are $55 dlvd

You will get your choice of one team and you will draft a second team. I will create a random list of the participants to make a draft list. Since there are 30 teams, this means there will be 15 slots. If you are interested in participating, simply post that you want in and your preference of team. I will keep this open until Friday evening 11pm EST or once fifteen teams have been selected. In case we have a team where multiple members are interested, I will do a random draw of those members and one member will get the team. The other members will be out of luck, so choose your team wisely.

All boxes will be broken live. Scans will be provided of all the hits just to show off the cards at the end of the break. If this goes well, we will look into other cases for the future.

You are paying for two teams...you get to choice your first one immediately. The second team will be chosen via a draft of all the other teams left once we fill the 16 slots...

$55 for 2 teams. $27.50 a team basically but you can't only have one team. You get your choice of one team (Detroit) and then once all 15 slots are selected there will be 15 other teams left. At that point, Tony puts all our names into some sort of Randomizing tool, and out comes the draft order. From there, you use that draft order to pick your second team until there are no teams left. After that, we can have our break on! (Once all payments are received)

I'm sorry to crush your pipedreams, but I doubt Tony would allow that. I put in my name to be randomized for the Yankees with Zas667 and he won. Therefore I picked the Giants. So if Tony allows Zas667 to switch to the White Sox, I would guess that I would have rights to the Yankees if I chose to take them. Which I would probably take. Therefore the Giants would probably free up, and then any member who chose their team after me would have rights to the Giants in order of who got in. And that would just create a mess. So i doubt it will be allowed. But I could be wrong.

Well technically speaking, there was a 24 hour window open from 12:00 noon EST, until I guess noon tomorrow for anyone yet who HASN'T already drafted a team. Meaning if all 15 slots weren't filled tomorrow at noon by members without a team already, THEN Tony would give members a 2nd team to whoever wanted one. So he might keep it open until noon tomorrow just incase another member wants to take the last slot, rather then army24byn getting two.

Orioles are already taken. Original deadline was like two fridays ago at this point. Maybe even 3. So at that point if multiple people wanted a team, THEN there would be a drawing for the team. It's way past the deadline now, so all other teams were on a first come first serve. It may even be completely locked up at this point. Anyone else you want?

ocsupertone81 - When I first posted this, members could post the team they were interested in until the deadline, which was on Friday of that week. When that deadline passed, I did a random draw on the teams that had multiple members interested. After that, the teams became first come, first served. Due to this taking a while, I finally gave in a couple of days ago and said that I would give it another 24 hours and then open it up for anyone who has a team to buy a second slot (pair of teams). One member took me up on that. We had 13 members who bought 1 slot and 1 member who bought 2 slots. That's a total of 15 slots. However, I notated that if someone else comes along and wants a slot with the 24 hour period, then they took priority. This is why I stated to you that a slot was still available. But now the deadline for that has passed and break is locked up.

Looking like things are rolling slowly but surely...before conducting the draft and so forth, I want to be clear about a couple of things...

I was looking over the entire Baseball Americana list and there are a few cards associated with baseball players. If the card pictures the player in a particular uniform, it will go to that team. If the player is not pictured in a uniform, the card will go to the one of teams the player played for. The exact team will be the team with the least number of hits from the entire break. That goes for the other cards that fall in this situation. I wanted to be clear about this so there's gripping and complaining

All other cards that are not baseball related will be randomly given to a team by using a random generator.

The George Bush base cards will also be divided up in this fashion.

Can't wait to do the break...especially after I got a sweet PC card in the mail today from Threads... :)

The break and draft can't be made until all payments are received, and about half the people in the break have not had their end of payment received, including me, because my money order just went in the mail.

and i personally wouldnt want a draft in the middle of the day... many of us would be at work... evenings would probably work best for most ppl

The best thing for everyone to do while we wait for payments is PM me a list in order of the team you want to draft. That way, when I run the random draft order, I can turn right around and auto draft for everyone... :)

It depends, if we know the draft order, then I would add more. For example, if you do the draft order soon, then we can know where everyone is at. If someone is near the bottom of the list, then they can give you a slightly larger list.

Yea it was! Without a doubt. It was fun, some good cards out of the boxes, and everyone seemed happy out of it. Couldn't have been a better group break. That's why I'm surprised this one took pretty long to fill up. I guess it all has to do with the cost.

2 things Tony.

1. If you'd like to just grab the last slot to push it along, who says you would have to take Texas? Not like we had our draft yet, so you could just take one of the other 15 teams still left instead of Texas. Still plenty of quality teams left.

2. If Shinino is willing to pay right now, and he really wants Texas, just give him a 2nd slot as well. No reason not to, besides respect to numba1yankeefan. Either way works.

And no offense meant, numba1, but you really should have made sure you had the funds before signing up. Granted, I've done it in the past before, but not on a group break.

He only posts the inserts/serial numbered/hits.... Base just comes as a surprise basically when you receive the bubble mailer from him. I know he said he would do video, but the amount of packs, boxes and cards would just make it impossible to upload and almost pointless so he doesn't. It's all good though pack by back is quicker anyway. It's awesome how it is.

It wouldn't be bad idea though to keep the video tape running, just in-case that Willie Mays 1/1 Dual Patch auto is pulled that we want to show everybody on youtube :)

Tony... Now I know there has been some minor talk about all the Americana cards and such like that. But what happens if you pull like an amazing top of the line, best card of the break americana auto. Is it really just going to go to the smallest stack? Person with the least amount of hits? Because some guys might get a few crappy hits, such as 3 $8 autos, but then one guy who only has 1 hit so far, all of a sudden gets the best card of the break, and he then becomes the biggest winner.

In a case like that (any nice autos, not pictured in a team), don't you think it should be pure randomization?

Nice pick- for my second pick I ended up with 26 base cards :(

atleast i got the fisk auto ... i cant believe the white sox and pirates got only 23 base cards :S

yeah, the fisk auto would have been nice..... but i got 5 inserts overall and about 40 base.

zas.... I don't know what it is. But I should have just picked the expos myself. I can predict these type of things SO well, but then don't follow through. I called the porcello auto too. But nope I took San Fran. Can't be dissappointed though, I got two bumgarners
