Maybe he should stop running his mouth. I was listening to the radio and caught D. Jackson and A. Davis talking about staph and how they weren't too concerned about it. They said the team has taken steps to make sure everything is sanitary and they are carefull themselves. It makes wonder how Winslow's hygiene was.

Don't even try and blame this on Kellen Winslow.

I've never been more disgusted in my life, than right now with the way Savage, and the team handled this situation. A staph infection can kill someone, so to say they "weren't too concerned about it" is a joke in it's own.

Plus, it's not saying much, when the Browns have now had 6 staph infections in the past four years. There's something going on in Berea, and the Browns need to get it taken care of.

Savage didn't even CONTACT Kellen while he was in the hospital, and the BROWNS were the ones who didn't want this being made public. Why would Kellen not want the media to know why he was in the hospital? If it's for a staph infection, he wouldn't care. This was all the Browns big guys not wanting ANOTHER staph infection to make the news. You think Kellen would have PREFERRED rumors to be floating around about him possibly having testicular cancer? I don't think so.

Then, they take ZERO responsibility, and suspend him for a game? Please. Way to drive Kellen out of town even sooner than he would have left.

Great job, Savage. Great job, Romeo. Thanks to BOTH OF YOU for blasting the only guy on our team that gives it 150% every game, and has more heart than anyone on the team.

Way to handle it.

Phil Savage does a great job of scouting talent, but once it gets here, he's quick to get them right the hell out the door. If someone talks bad about Savage, he wants them gone. He doesn't care how good the player is, it's his way, or the highway. And he has successfully p*ssed off Kellen enough to drive him out of Cleveland for good.

And you know what? I hope he goes to Pittsburgh. And I hope Kellen TORTURES the Browns for the rest of his career.

I'm sorry for the rant, but I've NEVER been this disgusted with my own team before.

Winslow has been one of my favorite players since he was at The U. The Browns are ridiculous and they supposedly tried to trade him before the deadline this year. Go to AZ K2!! :)..I know it wont happen

Why aren't his own teammates defending him? Till I hear them saying something I'm not blaming the team. Seems like the guys he plays with are getting fed up with him.

Funny, since I haven't heard ONE player on the team say they are fed up with Kellen.

It's also funny how the Browns punish Kellen for saying the TRUTH, but let DA go unnoticed, even though he's grabbing his teammates jerseys, and arguing with them ON THE FIELD.

And another thing....if any of his teammates defend him, it's pretty clear Savage will be quick to fine and suspend that person for defending him. That's why you won't hear anyone talk about it.

Is Savage his mother? K2 is a great player, but he can also be selfish. I guess some people want to ignore the fact that he's unhappy with his contract, crying about more money. How many games did Winslow play in his first 2 years? 2, yes two, because he got in a motorcycle accident and tore his ACL after missing the previous season with a broken fibula. Hmm, I didn't see him complaining about the $11 million he collected while he was out for 2 seasons. Now its all the Browns fault, when in reality some of these players need to look in the mirror.
I suppose you'd go into work if you weren't happy with something and pop off to management, right?

I think the contract has alot to do with it as well. He's had 2 good years in 06 and 07. 04 and 05 he was hurt and he has not been a factor this year. Two good years doesn't make him a superstar.

Yep, SO selfish that he played all last year, when he should have been having surgery on his knee, and rehabbing it. SO SELFISH, that he hasn't even brought up the contract ONCE this season.

EDIT: Funny, this coming from a Brian Urlacher fan...wasn't he making a huge deal about his contact just a few months ago, and was holding out of their offseason programs?

Yet you bring up K2's contract, one which he mentioned once, and said that he wouldn't complain about it, even though he was unhappy with it, because he knows there other guys that the team needs to take care of first, and he just wants to play football.

Yea....two good years, and he's played in TWO SEASONS.

How do you figure he won't be a superstar? He's been great both years he's been healthy. Of course he isn't a factor this year. Derek Anderson is the worst starting QB in the league. What do you expect?

I agree he was good those two years but I don't know how he can open his mouth in any way or form after the motorcycle accident. That accident cost him 05 and has had lingering effects w/ his knees. He plays through pain but how much is it from the motorcycle incident.

I see where you're coming from, but bringing up the motorcycle incident, in comparison to this is really two completely different things.

All he was complaining about was the fact that while he was in the hospital, no one from ownership, including Phil Savage, took time to even check on him, and see how he was doing. And he gets suspended for it?

And people say he shouldn't have said that stuff? The Browns were the ones that didn't want the news about a staph infection getting out. He's mad that they tried to say it was Kellen who didn't want that to get out.

Also, he's finally 100% healthy, as far as his knees go.

Well, I guess hiring Drew Rosenhaus and unfortunately can't find the article I read where he is whining about his contract this year.

This post wasn't about Brian Urlacher now, was it? But since you bring it up, he was selfish and I didn't like it and thought it was BS, but at least I can admit it. He missed 2 voluntary workouts if you want to get specific. At least Urlacher has proven himself for more than 2 years.

The Browns could have gone after his bonus money when he crashed his motorcycle in violation of his contract, but they didn't. Now he wants to moan about money and that the GM didn't visit him in the hospital. Grow up man, but he's been immature since he was in college and probably before.

Well said, I agree that Urlacher is established and has earned his money while Winslow attitude can be questioned at times,

Why are people quick to trash Winslow's attitude?

He hasn't popped off once since he's been in Cleveland. Everyone always wants to look back at what he did while at Miami. That was the last time, before just now, that he ever even opened his mouth about anything. Five years in Cleveland, and never opened his mouth until now.

And then, when he does, people claim he's acting all immature. What was so immature? He said he felt like the team didn't care about him by not showing ANY CONCERN WHATSOEVER while he was in the hospital with an infection that could kill a person.

Heaven forbid he feels neglected by the higher ups of his own organization.

I know if I was in the hospital with an infection that could kill me, and got it from something at my work, and not a single person higher than me at my place of employment checked on me the entire time, I'd be ****** off too.

But since it was Kellen Winslow, you know, the guy who popped off six years ago with a soldier comment, he's being immature.

Granted a staph infection can kill you, but there is no indication it was ever that serious.

I can't believe that you actually said that Winslow hasn't popped off until now. When he first signed his rookie contract, he didn't like it and made it known he didn't. He's wanted a new once since his first year, and popped off about it his first season after being out for 2 years.

I'm not sure why it matters if Savage visited him, but it probably would have been the prudent thing to do, show concern toward a player.

On the other hand, if Winslow expects loyalty or concern from the organization, shouldn't he show the same sort of attitude toward the Browns?

Aside from the motorcycle thing, he's shown nothing but loyalty towards the Browns. Is that what you're referring to?

And even then, it's not like he was trying to hurt himself on purpose, or anything like that. Granted, it was a stupid thing to do, and he should of known better, aside from that, I'm not sure if you can say he's ever NOT been loyal to the Browns.

I get to thinking about how what 6 players or so have gotten staph infections while with the Browns? Something is not right with their facility.

I think they have not taken the best care of their players. And because one of their best players comes out and finally comments on it, they slap him with a one game suspension and calling it detrimental to the team is BS!

Thank you! That's my exact point. Six staph infections since 2005 is about six too many. There's something wrong over there in Berea....and they need to really gut the whole place, and figure it out.

I guess you could say the same thing about the Browns, after all they paid him while he was injured when they could have gone after his money for violation of his contract.

I admire your loyalty to Winslow, I have that same loyalty to Urlacher except I can admit when he's being selfish or not performing to his usual standards.

You really believe that because he felt like the team doesn't care about him because they didn't even bother to check on him while he was in the hospital with a staph infection he got from the teams practice facility is being selfish?

If that happened to Urlacher, and he came out and said he felt like he wasn't even a part of the team, because no one even bothered to see how he was doing, would you say he was being selfish?

I'm just not sure how that would be considered selfish....he's voicing his opinion about the team not showing any care for one of their own in the hospital.

Jeremy,
I'm not saying this because I am a Steeler fan. But Winslow thinks because he is the kid of a famous hardnosed player he can run his mouth! (Shockey comes to mind) Yes the Browns wanted this hushed up...big deal you would too if that was your job!!!!! Winslow works for the Browns or am I missing something? (Whining) Oh they didn't visit me boohoo.... So what. Play football like you say you can show hard work on the field....When time comes to get a new contract then your set! This is a business and by no means is Winslow close to being a franchise player. The only person that needed to see how he was doing in the hospital is the head coach. Guess his dad didn't love him enough....Bad thing is people are preceiving him as a mouth and less show. Missed 2 seasons the browns really needed him. Sorry the Steelers would not want any part of a me player!!!! Maybe Dallas can use him and then between him and T.O. the sports page would always have a cowboy story to run with.

I see where you're coming from as well. Why does Winslow need to tell the whole world, why doesn't he just take his beef up with Savage or the coaches? How do you know nobody bothered to see how he was doing, the articles only say that Savage didn't contact him, not anyone else.

Savage and Crennel both didn't visit him, at least that's what K2 says. Don't know why he'd lie about something like that, so I'd believe him. Sure, he should have went just to him, but then what? Savage gets irritated about the conversation, and suspends him anyways? Then the media has no clue why he's suspended?

Because Lord knows if he were to go just to Savage, there still would have been a fallout, and Savage wouldn't have been happy with the situation regardless.

Bottom line, people are quick to blame Kellen, and there's no blame towards the Browns. Which is a crock of you-know-what.

Put it this way.....if the GM or coach just goes to check on their hospitalized player (which should have been done), this wouldn't even be an issue. I'm just not sure how ALL the blame is being put on Kellen, just because he spoke his mind.

Yea, something that should not be hidden and if Winslow wants to tell other players that's his choice. I don't see how Savage thought he could suspend him for that. I thought there would be more to the story not just Savage making a very poor decision.

Wow, it looks like the Browns finally realized how stupidly they handled the situation....

CLEVELAND – The Browns have agreed to rescind Kellen Winslow (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/6765/;_ylt=As6E_f58QhsZiHCoLI0tkU8dsLYF)’s one-game suspension, but the Pro Bowl tight end will still miss Cleveland’s game on Sunday.
The team said in a statement Saturday night that Winslow will return on Monday, following the Browns’ game against the Jacksonville Jaguars (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/teams/jac/;_ylt=AtCnIUaqJurrquUTh99anjEdsLYF).

The franchise said it has worked through its differences with Winslow and looks forward to his return.
