Well I sent in a 2008 Topps Finest John Carlson auto base rc which was suppose to be numbered. You can send them in to be numbered and so on. You can read on more detail here: http://www.sportscardforum.com/showthread.php?t=592427

I sent it in on October 14th with DC, and they received it. So I get the card back today. They hand numbered it and put a authentication sticker on the back. My complaint is they hand numbered it in a place that looks ridiculous, on the top left of my card, here is a scan:

Carlson Auto (http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p192/trombley62/SportsCards%20FT/Football%20Autos/carlson.jpg)

Its not noticable in the scan, but the left bottom corner is slightly creased and the back there is white showing where its black. The top loader that the card came back in was broken also. As if it had been torn apart. Different than what I put my card in.

With this I have lost a bit of respect for Topps. For a card company they should realize, that us collectors value the condition our cards are in. And not damage something that was in perfectly great condition.

Just bugs me that the company did not take better card for the card.

At least the shipping was fast and they did include a complimentary pack of cards with it, which was an hobby pack of 07 bowman chrome which I pulled a John Beck rc from :twitch:

Oh well I suppose, guess I'll stop ranting.

The hand numbering looks horrible and they damage the card too? That's a bunch of BS.

I have no idea how Topps stays in business.

I got the same result on my Kevin Smith. I wish I would have known they were gonna hand number it. I would of just bought a Sharpie.

Then you coulda given it a sick number like 1/1 or even -1/1. Wrap your mind around THAT one.

Well i am still waiting for an auto from topps that i have been waiting for almost 5 months and it is still pending . Reason why i don't buy topps anymore. Kinda sad that they put redemptions in packs that they can't get the player to sign.

thanks for sharing, sorry about your experience. I don't think I will be sending mine in to get numbered now.

I sent one of the 08 Finest auto cards I pulled in to have them number the card and they numbered mine in the same spot as the OP's card was. They also stuck the card back in the sleeve before the ink had time to dry and there is a small smudge on the card from one of the numbers. I'm glad I only sent them one and I do not plan on sending in any of the others I have for them to number.

well like bearfield said what is stopping people from using their own sharpies and throwing a jersey # on there? Sure it won't have the sticker but that hasn't stopped people before.
