View Full Version : Spurs Win! Duncan MVP!!
ILuvSportsCards 06-15-2003, 11:30 PM Congratulations to the Spurs!! They played well and impressed me. I am a Nets fan, but I must also say this was bittersweet. I am a fan of David Robinson and the Nets, so I am glad to see Robinson win, but sad to see the Nets lose.
Congrats to Tim Duncan who won the MVP! And good bye and thanks for all of the memories, David a.k.a. The Admiral!
Tigers#1 06-15-2003, 11:44 PM Congrats. They deserved it, and i'm glad to see they are now out of that "asteris" shadow from a few years ago.
Enigma 06-15-2003, 11:57 PM Though I'm not disputing what Duncan did in every game, it's just a shame that Steve Kerr didn't get his rightful recognition. In crunch time, he was the true MVP.
podstock 06-16-2003, 12:20 AM I am just glad the Nets lost.
At first I was rooting for them...but as the series went on, they just played worse and worse.
One of the worst teams to ever play in the NBA
IggyWH 06-16-2003, 12:26 AM Good game (at least what I saw of it) tonight... looks like in the end though the Nets choked like the Spurs usually do.

mookigremlin 06-16-2003, 12:30 AM Welp even though I wanted the Nets to win, I am glad that the Spurs won so that David Robinson could go out on a high note. I just knew the Nets could not pull it off after I stoped watching that last game. hehe. :)

BGray 06-16-2003, 06:00 AM Good Job Spurs!
Although, I'm a fan I do have to say it was not a Finals to remember. Pretty Boring IMO.

tiffg15 06-16-2003, 12:44 PM Congratulations to the Spurs for a great season. SOrry to see David Robinson retire.

Agreed.
Very boring series.
The only thing it had going for it was that David Robinson was trying to go out on top.
Glad he did.
podstock 06-16-2003, 12:51 PM would have to agree on David Robinson, esp. after seeing ESPN do those features on him helping out the elementary school kids with his own money in establishing a school for them
he's donated about $9M, and counting.
slugger21 06-16-2003, 12:51 PM Man D-Rob is so fun to watch because of the enthusiasm that he brings...it would have been fitting for him to get MVP and sad to see him go.
podstock 06-16-2003, 01:05 PM no, Duncan deserved the MVP.
He was just awesome last night
IggyWH 06-16-2003, 01:12 PM A little sidenote... while watching the game, one of my best friends got pissed off. He said San Antonio didn't have any real black men. I was like WTF are you talking about? He then said well Tim Duncan doesn't count cause he's a fake black man from the Virgin Islands and David Robinson is softer than a marshmellow so neither of them count as black men. I started laughing like crazy then... funny stuff, guess you had to be there.
ILuvSportsCards 06-16-2003, 01:27 PM Not real black man?? Well then I guess I'm not a real white man....I'm really, really white.
But anyways, David Robinson, regardless of color, is what you call a real, true man. he has remained a great father throughout his career. He has always been there for his fans. He started up an organization (with his own money) to help under privileged kids, and he didn't just give them the money, he gave them himself and his time. He helped them and watched them grow.
David Robinson= Real Man*
*-and black nontheless.
podstock 06-16-2003, 06:55 PM the subject of Duncan / Robinson not being real black men -- very stupid.
Let's drop it before this thread becomes racially incited.
If people are gonna call other people with insults, do it to their face.
IggyWH 06-16-2003, 07:39 PM Damn, people are all anal about things... it's a joke. It's a conversation that's so stupid it's funny. I'm sure Ryan felt me on this tip.

well to me that makes him a real man, not black nor white or whatever you should take care of your family and give back the riches you have gained...
IMO, being black I don't know exactly what a real white man or real black man should be like, but for all the people I have been around wealthy blacks and whites, they sure do act funny...that is why I don't like neither one of them...
And bgray, yes that was the most unemotional series I have ever seen, I had to stop watching it, no excitement...
tim duncan and the freaking mr robinson(who btw has had the same haircut since he was drafted, I bet if you looked at his rookies it will have the same lousy haircut) I dislike both of them...

and yes even though I wasn't there with you guys we had the same conversation in our house during last nights game. I wonder how many black households had the same conversation...
don't worry it is something that alot of people can't and don't understand...trust me
podstock 06-16-2003, 08:12 PM you see, it ain't got nothing to do with being anal.
It's all about living in a litigious society, where the most innocent remarks can get you shot at if you're in the wrong neighborhood.
Or, if you live in a rich neighborhood, you end up in courts

nah, I would not take those comments personnal and I would say that a lot of guys would agree with those comments, iggy was making those remarks himself he was commenting what some of his homies was saying...
one thing, don't ever be ashamed or think that comments like that is hurt black people'd feelings. That is the problem with the world so many people are afraid to ask questions fearing that it will offend the other person, if it does, then you make an apology, most time it will not and close the gap on what white people think about black people and vice versa, being a black guy you should see some of the looks I get from people, just simply when I wear sweats versus when I have slacks and shirt and tie. Women clutch their purse tighter and walk a few steps further or they fight not to make eye contact, but when I am walking with slacks, shirt and tie with my briefcase, it is totally different, and I live in a majority white communtity, I get invited over for drinks or just to shoot the breeze, but when I first moved here they were talking crap...I will venture to say once they know I was a professional(financial planner) and can hold a very intelligent convo, why is that but when I worked at the casino and wore sweats all the time on my days off, they never wanted to talk to me...look when cut, we all bleed red...we need to try to get to know the other races you will find out, that we are all the same...here is an another sterotype, when I first went into the financial planning business, most of my black friends were saying dude black people don't have any money and white people are not going to give you the time of day, well 3 years later and 10 million dollars in assest under management, I don't hear that anymore, now they say "when does he work and all he does is hangout at sporting events and talk on the his cell phone"
it is incredible... do I expect you to understand...no, it is something you have to find out yourself, ask some black guys/women about it, they will confirm what I say...
podstock 06-16-2003, 08:55 PM well, when you got Jesse Jackson crying over every single discrimination (until the corporation "donates" a few millions to his organization)...you can see why people are terrified to say anything offensive.
That farker Jackson launched a lawsuit discrimination vs. Toyota just a year or so ago.
Toyota made about a $4-10M donation to his organization.
the farking Jackson went back quietly to his mansion.
Jackson is like most people in life -- hypocrites.
Remember when Jackson was caught with that mistress of his?
Same thing with Billy Graham.
and many many many more folks

Imo jackson has done some good things and some bad things and I will say that the good he has done far outweigh the bad, trust me we get totally discriminated against...
check out the quick story, this lady was doing the planning for her companies christmas party last year and they were putting the mgmt and the hourly people at the same party at the same time, now my girl is helping her, my girl is mex/pr mixed but looks white bonde and green eyes, not the lady was just bashing the mexicans that worked for her company say I dunno, you now how they act when they drink and this and that and I was just cracking up laughing as she didn't know my girl was mexirican... how freaking dumb now that is the **** that will piss someone off, if I wasn't there I am quite positive that she would have talked about the blacks too.
guess what we did, they paid 3x what we normally charge people and they paid up...lOL who got the last laugh, most people would have gotten pissed and said something bad to the lady as my girl was starting to get steamed until I told her, the lady is ignorant, but she is buying this place and just paid for our daughter daycare for a year....LOL
