Anyone can participate.
Right now we're nearly at 26,000 posts in the racing forums. Our goal: 50,000.
RULES:
1. Pick the day you think we will reach that goal.
2. No editing your post. All dates picked are final.
3. Dates are on a first come first serve basis. Look through and dont pick a date that's already been picked.
4. Whoever picks the correct day wins.
5. If no one picks the exact day, whoever is closest WITHOUT going over wins.
6. Enter by December 15th to participate. DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 20TH.

it has taken 2 years to get to the 54,000 mark. and posts are somewhat down. my guess would be somewhere in 2010. my guess is june 2nd 2010.

Wow 6,000 posts in eight weeks! (Unless the post counter is messed up again) Things have really picked up around here since this contest started!
At this rate, things are looking good for DAVE30. Another 6K posts in 8 weeks and we'll make it to 50K before wolf1bh's pick of Oct 31.

I did read the rules, they say closest without going over. Everyone who picked dates beyond the day it actually happens...went over. If we get to 50,000 before 12:00a.m. on October 31st, then wolf1bh went over and dave30's pick is closest without going over. If your time ended at the date of your pick, that would be closest without being under.
"Closest without going over" means that the pick can't exceed the actual result, not that the result can't exceed the pick.

i read it to be the total number of posts "going over" someone's day picked. being we have "gone over" dave's date and i was safe if we hit 50 k by oct 31?
skippy 10-28-2009, 07:19 AM Actually Barry you have until 2359 on Saturday Oct 31 to go. If we reach 0001 on Nov 1 then your out. And since time won't reset back untill 0200 that won't affect you.

were gonna hit 50k today. lea i guess it's just semantics. you're thinking of the day picked as "going over" and i am thinking of the posts "going over" the day picked before hitting 50k. obviously i wouldn't be making any comments or threads this week if i thought it was the former.
the first way dave would win the second way i would win. it's not a big deal. maybe we can share the prize or something.
skippy 10-30-2009, 05:26 PM Plain and simple. The day that was picked did not go over the mark of 50,000 posts.It was called pick the day that we would reach 50,000 post without going over. When we hit 50,000 posts we had already surpassed the August date of Dave. In retrospect we went over his mark. Barry had Oct 31 and we have not surpassed that day hence we are under his pick. If it would have went on till Nov 1 we would have taken the next pick on the list.
The mark of 50,000 was reached yesterday, hence we did not go over the day of Oct 31 so congrats to Barry (wolf1bh) as the winner of the 50K post contest. Your prize will be mailed out shortly. it will be a surprise.
