my canseco collection to date (not including about 20 incoming cards) 1463/2649 (around 55%) Beckett recognized cards. about 500-600 other non recognized items.. not one double in my PC.. 66 GU'ed and 21 Auto's to date and counting.
I don't have the collection broken down into base, insert numbers.. I can tell you that up to 1995 when I stopped collecting, my card count stood at 95% beckett complete.. had I not taken 12 years out the hobby during the explosion years I would be alot better off Im sure. like my last email I have 66 GU'ed currently (4 incoming), 21 auto's (1 incoming), and I think I have around 100 #'d cards to date (more incoming in trades) . as for oddballs I have everything from star sets to regional issues and tons of broder variations. also have mostly all of the SLU's still on the boards. The only thing I don't have in my PC is a 1/1 to this point(only 1 has hit ebay in the last year and I didn't have the scratch for it.) the best way to see the diversity of my collection is to view all my pics.. I have some seriously rare items like the 88 topps cloth in my collection.. and actually have worked very hard to complete up to 1995 in my collection this year.. knocking off more than 15 very hard to find early inserts/oddballs in just under a year back in the hobby. once I get more cash to spend I will hit the low numbered GU'ed much harder. I hope that my stats stand out enough for the honor of being your Jose Canseco Super Collector. anything else I can answer for you by all means PM me back. I am planning to start a complete rescan of all my cards in Beckett order to better organize my site.. a long task with so many cards but needs to be done.
Why I collect Jose Canseco:
I started collecting Jose back in 1988 full time.. I decided to focus my efforts on hardcore player collecting and have never looked back. To me he was the most exciting player to watch back in the late 80's early 90's hands down with legendary Home Runs and speed on the bases for a big guy. He was more fun to watch strikeout 3 times in a game than to see guys like Gwynn get 3 boring hits a game.. not only that he was the only baseball player to have red carpet celebrity status.. He was bigger than baseball for a few years. back in the late 80's he was in every card set made practically.. I knew it would be a tough chase to keep up but a ton of fun. now that Im back collecting again full time I have that same feeling I did way back before internet changed the whole collecting game.. still that thrill of the chase for tough or rare cards.. just more avenues to obtain them now. great trading sites such as this one have really helped me add well over 200 new cards to my PC in the last year and Ebay has helped me add some of the flash only the cards of the late 90's and new millenium offer.
