I'm watching "The Greatest Game Ever Played" and made me want to send out to Gino Marchetti and Ray Berry. I'm also sending out to Chuck Bednarik. I have two Topps Chrome cards (Bednarik, Marchetti) that I would love to have signed. If I rub the sheen off the cards very well before sending them, will they hold the auto? Any help is greatly appreciated!

haha im watchin that too. UNITAS!!! but chrome cards usually dont hold autos well at all :(

That sucks. I'm gonna go test a Sharpie out on a Topps Chrome base and see how it olds. I'm not hoping for much but it can't hurt to try. Wait, didn't Topps make a Military Honor Roll insert in regular Topps? Time to go dig for one of those!

I have heard that using a pencil eraser to rub over the autograph area ill remove the "chrome" so to speak and hold the autograph fairly decently. Good luck!

if you rub em down, then they sign fine.

New to the forum but have alot of autographing experience. Chrome cards WILL hold a signature if "prepped" before they are signed. Some use erasers as mentioned above. I personally take a small bit of baby powder and sprinkle it on the surface of the card...take your finger and rub in in a little across the surface of the card. Then you take a tissue or some sort of cloth and rub off the card.

I've never had a problem with a chrome card bubbling or smearing, just as long as you prep the card before with an eraser or baby powder.

I think as long as the player waits to put it back in the envelope before the ink dries, you should be good.
