So in these times maybe it would be better off putting your IRS refund checks in the bank or into something meaningful that can either help yourself, family or others... but I worked hard this past yr and yea, ive spent some case breaks here and the bay but my thought now is with this refund I think like to buy a case.

Options are:
-05-06 to 08-09 UD Ser1 or Ser 2 (pending what yr)
at the moment any yr of
-The Cup
-Sweet Shot
-ITG Ulitmate Mem.

or something unexpect but amazing


These are just pending as well as the thought of buying but
I am not looking to make money but want something that can
help build along a decent set with some of course really good hits.

I believe this has been kicked around with a cpl of recent months but
now its my turn to ask the masses.

I would go the older sweet shot. Example D&A or Blowoutcards had them at less than $45 a tin. You know with a case some nice stick auto's will come out and there wil be some amazing hits without really busting the bank.

My opinion would be either 08/09 SPA, 06/07 or 07/08 SPA, 06/07 or 07/08 Sweet Shot, 07/08 OPC Premier, 06/07 or 07/08 The Cup, 07/08 or 08/09 Artifacts, or 08/09 Trilogy.

06-07 you have malkin , 07 08 the kane toews price trio. 08 09 too early to tell if any "greats" are gonna come out of that class. so if it were me id bust up some 07-08 better chance at a big dog.

I think Im gonna rule out anything from thr 06-07 season expect for SPx(due to a recent awesome break) and Sweet Shot. Yea my PC rookie is in that year but thats more of putting all your eggs in one basket for that one. With the other years the range is all open, yea it could be the same for 06-07 but ehhhhhh well you know if you know what I mean.

I do agree with wolf1bh about the 08-09 selection. Again though it is not about $ pulls to turn but a lasting exciting product that in turn can be share with alot of traders on here and aboot.

Theres time and Im sure my choice will change. Still heavily undecided.

I still think 06/07 SPA is a sweet case to break! Lots of rookies from 05/06 and 06/07.

I agree with Doniceage, I think your best bet is the older Sweet Shot. More hits and less base cards. Have fun!

UPDATE, just did my taxes and with what I wanna keep VS what I wanna spend it looks like I have around $300 for a case. I know that might be low to mid end but what could that get me folks?

Id just go with a couple boxes of SPGU or 07-08 SPA...likely to get more decent hits out of a couple mid-high end boxes than out of 6 million (roughly) packs of victory...good luck with whatever you buy though

With $300 you could get 20 blaster box case of Artifacts. Some retail case or blaster box case of something like that.

Yea you cant really even get too many boxes for $300. maybe go with 6 or 7 tins of sweet shot.

I owed some last yr, I guess this yr things are looking Cromalk. With the current responses from everyone about what is out there, I think I might want to up it (first and last time) to $450.

At the moment, though to me thats alot I think I could just end up buying a number of hobby boxes VS a case. It looks like cases of what I first asked of starts around $550+

Well if you up it a little you could get a case to yourself of BTP. It one of my favorites if your into goalies. Also, no fear of Mike C either LOL.

My thoughts exactly! I know bustin wax can be a lot of fun but how about starting an afordable set ex: like the puck signings I think Inferno (could be wrong) or Ice scripted swatches!!!

PC might be the way. With a local hobby shop on the brink of closing up, the closest one is 2hrs away, that leaves ordering from stores with online sites. I do like busting boxes but how many times have I ever pulled a PC in 2+yrs?... one time.
Tax papers sent in on Monday, I got a month or so to still make my choice.

Well so far with some thats already came in I bought Sweet Shot, not 07-08 that Ive been apart of in recent breaks but from 06-07. They will be in within a 9 business day timeline as of today. We'll see how I do in the box break forum. Still up in the air of a case break, SPa is coming up so who knows.

I believe a case is now out of choices for me but this is what ive decided 75% on:

-a few (3 to 4) boxes of the new BTP
-a cpl Trilogy boxes either from 06/07 or 07/08
-a cpl Sweet Shot (yr"s" undecided yet)
-not sure of the number but of UD ser1/2 (yr"s" undecided)
-1 08/09 SPGU

mostly all for the fun of breaks and building up the bucket
for fun trades later on.

Thanks alot, yea I figured with the fact Im not really a big Crosby or Malkin collector plus just recently located a site to where all Macgruber skits were posted I felt it was time.

The SPGU is actually for someone else, I personally wouldnt bust that product. SPa has been a lingering thought as well so who knows, that list could change after i come back from Buffalo this wknd but Im still leaning on Trilogy as a first buy.

Trilogy definitely seems like a solid product, although I havent purchased much myself
