I was going thru the completed listings on Ebay and found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/07-08-UD-SP-Game-Used-Miikka-Kiprusoff-Letter-F-8-9_W0QQitemZ310115334924QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_SM_Sp orts_Cards?hash=item310115334924&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A13|39%3A1|240%3A1318 (http://cgi.ebay.com/07-08-UD-SP-Game-Used-Miikka-Kiprusoff-Letter-F-8-9_W0QQitemZ310115334924QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_SM_Sp orts_Cards?hash=item310115334924&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A13%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318)

The problem is.... I'm the owner of this card... :confused0024:

Wow, what are the chances of catching that? I don't even know what to recommend, but that's weird.

Yea... I just sent upperdeck an email.... hope they will have a response to me soon...

Apparently the two cards don't look the same too.... one is straight, and mine is with an angle....

Have you ever seen the 9/9? Maybe they didn't print that one :confused0024:

no, I have never seen the "9/9" before... let's see what UD has to say...

did they do 9 for each letter? 2 F's in his name lol not sure

I agree with hossa18sens. With two "F" in his name they probably made 18 cards.

Although I don't know if I'm seeing what you are where you say one is stright and the other angled. The "F"s seem to be laid out exactly the same to me. The photo in the listing has the card slightly tilted.

Have you posted front & back photos of your card on any sites where someone could lift the image?

:sign0020:I do have to laugh at the fact that his Buy it Now price is $299 when the #2/9 letter "I" just sold for $22.50!

As Drew said this could always be a possibility:

I no one high end dealer that will not allow me to take photo's of his cards. As he is afraid of this. We know each other well but he still DOESN'T LET ME DO IT. I would contact the person with the item see if they have a BACK of the card per chance if you never posted that. Nothing like investigating stuff.

That is funny because the letter "I" 2/9 is on ebay right now. It is actually selling for $22.50 with 3 days and 10 hours left which is a long time.

Actually there is a difference, if you look closely at the "backbone" (left side) of the F on one card(e-Bay one) it parallels the edge of the card and there is very little black border at the top of the F, on the oother there is a slight angle and you vcan see the black edging clearly. I'm thinking they numbered both cards 8/9 and 9/9 wasn't made.

I think they just screwed up the serial numbering and just stamped two 8/9s, if you see a third one then something fishy would be going on :)

I finally got a response from Barry today.... to me, he's clueless..... :confused0024:

"Hello Patrick, Maybe this is where we have the misunderstanding. Each letter is #ed to 9. There is no error

K # to 9 example 1/9, 2/9, 3/9 4/9, etc
I # to 9 example 1/9 2,9, 3/9, 4/9, etc

Each letter is #ed like this

So... he's saying there's nine full nameplates out there each numbered 1-9? According to him there is seven more 8/9 'F' cards, and nine full sets of nameplates total. Maybe these By The Letter cards aren't as limited as they seem...

I don't think there is 7 more 8/9 'F' cards. From the way I read it each letter is printed to 9

K - 9 Cards
I - 9 Cards
P - 9 Cards
R - 9 Cards
U - 9 Cards
S - 9 Cards
O - 9 Cards
F - 9 Cards
F - 9 Cards

Which means every letter has one 8/9 card except 'F' which has two 8/9 cards because there is 2 'F's in his name

ok, i'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet but there is only 1 full nameplate. the By The Letter series is an actual game used nameplate. Kiprusoff has 9 letters in it, therefore:

K = 1/9
I = 2/9
P = 3/9
R = 4/9
U = 5/9
S = 6/9
O = 7/9
F = 8/9
F = 9/9

there are not 9 of each card regardless of what Barry says. i've heard around that he is pretty knowledgable but he's way off the mark this time. UD f'ed up. plain and simple.

don't get the "By The Letter" inserts confused with the "Letter Marks" inserts. the Letter Marks usually have a print run of /50 and can have multiples of the same letter. since they are manufactured and not game used, they have autos on them.

Yes, I told Barry that but he kept saying I'm wrong... so I gave up... it's just waste of time.

Barry is confused. Remember in Baseball their autographed letters are called By The Letter, so I can see how it could happen. There is only 1 nameplate per player.

Has anyone seen repeated serial numbers for another player? I'm sure by now we would have stumbled across matching serial numbered "E"s for Kyle Greentree if there were, in fact multiple nameplates.

Barry's response makes sense, if...big IF...there are mutiple plates.

Thats is obvious BS. I am sure more than 3 or 4 By the Letters would have surfaced up if there are 81 produced.

There is only 1 plate per player. If there wasnt theyd be everywhere. Plus players like Tiger williams, there are not that many old jerseys of him.

I always understood it as 9 name bars or 9 letters of each letter??

No.

Upper Deck screws us all with the manufactured auto patches of fake nameplates, adds confusion.

When they do the name plates, the By the Letter cards, there is 1 nameplate, cut into pieces for each letter. So if there are 9 letters in the name, that means each letter counts as one of those 9. So in this case 8/9 is the letter in question.

I figured there was only one nameplate too, which is why his answer confused me.

I agree, and that's why it makes the "By the letter" set so unique.... each letter should be 1 of 1.....
