It's true, but I like the lots of this product
Lundy 02-15-2009, 07:11 PM i love this product, but have never bought a box, i keep hearing that its not worthy to break, is that true? so far i have picked only singles and it worked for me. :winking0071:
cant wait till march 10
RGM81 02-15-2009, 07:14 PM The /99 RCs are really the ones that are worth the effort, and they're something like 1 in 3 cases. It still amazes me that people go hunting for the Crosby or Ovechkin from 05-06 in light of all the truly awful breaks that you see.
Lundy 02-15-2009, 07:57 PM can someone tell me how many CASES of this product are made?
Jidg24 02-15-2009, 08:03 PM This is probably one of my favorite products of the year. I'm glad they brought it back last year and they vastly improved it from 05-06. I opened somewhere around 7-8 boxes and got 2 of the rookies #/99. Every other box I pulled one #/499. Can't wait for it again this year.
korpkaos 02-15-2009, 08:14 PM I really enjoy busting boxes of Ice. The 05/06 was a real hit or miss product but last years Ice was much better. People have to realize that this is a mid-end product with a huge upside if you can pull a /99 RC, or any of the Glass parallels. With the cost being not much different from that of Black Diamond I dont see how one can go wrong with trying 1-2 boxes when they come out. I know I will bust atleast 1 or 2 even with this years weaker rookie class(my personal opinion).
RGM81 02-17-2009, 01:21 PM Official checklist is posted at the UD website. *yawn*

RGM81 03-02-2009, 12:39 PM Pics are now up as well.
I'm happy to see that Ben Maxwell gets his first RC. But it'll be eBay/trading only for me for this set.
Prime B 03-02-2009, 04:53 PM BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Thoughts?
The swatches are shrinking by the minute, look at the size of the Ice Rookie Premiers Patch Auto windows or the Signature Swatches.
Design.
Totally uninspired. Look at the similarities between the aforementioned Sig Swatches Subset and the Glacial Graphs. Yay.
Head scratchers.
Why list all 4 of Patrick Roy's cup wins on his Cup Foundations card and then depict him as a Canadien? It is very misleading (even for those of us who are informed hockey fans) and makes it appear he won all 4 Cups with Montreal. Why not do what they have have done in other instances (Stanley Cup Signatures from the two previous years of The Cup come to mind) and make a Montreal and Colorado version? Oh, must be the economy, they ran out of acetate!
Also, Steve Mason as a 499 rookie, Level 2 rookie while guys like Colton Gilles, Brandon Sutter and Fabian Brunnstrom make the cut at level 1 for the copies to 99?
BRUTAL! Who are the hockey dudes over there these days? :sign0020:
j7records 03-06-2009, 06:56 AM What does PETG mean? :confused0024:
Inferno 03-06-2009, 08:05 PM What does PETG mean? :confused0024:
It's a type of plastic they make clear cards out of, basically acetate. It makes the look glassy.
cnshockey 03-07-2009, 12:17 AM I will be trying the Glacial graphs set. if you get any, please pm me
zPens87z 03-07-2009, 12:21 AM I don't mind this product, but I won't buy a little or any of it. Nothing really desirable, I think I will buy the certain singles that I saw on the checklist.
Inferno 03-07-2009, 12:45 AM I don't think I've seen an autograph checklist so far this season that I've liked enough to even consider collecting, the Glacial Graphs don't seem to appeal to me at all. Too much focus on the young stars, not enough on the accomplished greats. That's just me though :)
MatsSundin13Rocks 03-07-2009, 12:35 PM I have no interest in buying packs of ICE since I didn't get 1 good hit in 4 boxes of Ice from 2 differents years. 2 from 05/06 and 2 from 07/08. Garbage!

Icescripts problem has the best list for most accomplished stars. Or Legends Masterpieces.

Guys, I'll be honest with you, I think UD is in a world of hurt financially.
You can expect to see less and less star power depth and more young guys on forthcoming checklists. The main reason for this is two fold:
The rookie kids and younger guys are MUCH cheaper for autographs. And the veteran stars, retired especially, are sometimes tougher to track down for signing sessions.

Thanks Inferno
Wingsfan-13 03-08-2009, 08:26 PM I like this set even though it can be a real kick in the junk on breaks ( a little biased, I got a Kane last year) sharp looking set and I think the Frozen Foursomes are one of the nicest cards ever made. Also looking for a few more Ericssons so the set apeals a little more to me!
Rogulon 03-16-2009, 10:07 AM I have not personally bought any of this product yet but like others have said I am little confused at where some of the rookies are located in the Levels.....
But the product is saved by the Glacial Graphs they are always a fabulous card....
RGM81 03-16-2009, 10:14 AM The tier system always has people complaining about it. A lot of it is hindsight being 20/20 - prime example is Lundqvist as an /1999 while Gilbert Brule was an /99.
I have a chuckle whenever I see Leafs fans demanding to know why Pogge isn't an /99 despite his sterling record since being called up mid-season.
CARDINALFAN13 03-17-2009, 01:05 AM What would expect from leafs fans.......on my front opened i box so far 1 really nice hit... need 2 rc from this set oshie and berglund both /499 hope to trade or buy cheap as the odds of pulling 1 or both same very steep
