do you think it was right for the yankees to fine David Wells 100,000 dollars.... for publishing and autobiography of his life and in it stated that when he pitched his perfect game he quoted he was " half drunk" should he have ever published this book?

no but he also wrote stuff about fellow teammates like future HOFer and 300 game winne Roger Clemens. You don't do that when u r still playing with them!!! Maybe after your traded or you retire, Wells is a jerk!! I hope Clemens straightens that fat mess up!!!!

He was supposed to be fined up to 160K but his agent brought it down to an even 100. He definitely deserves it and it shows that his blessed arm is the only part of him the Yanks still want. Too bad they don't have cryogenetic technology to exchange his arm with someone who'll play for little money :)

Wells was an idiot for ever admitting he was hung over/drunk for the no hitter. He deflated whatever glory he once had as a result of that accomplishment. Baseball isn't just about talent, it's also about image. Wells destroyed his image, and put a ding in the Yankees history. I agree that the Boss did the right thing by fining him. I think he shouldn't have ever come out about this... until at the very least, he became ineligible for the HOF.

Some peolpe could find that amusing, lol. From my perspective, I don't think he should have been fined tht much. If anything 25,000.

well i think he should be free to say and write what he wants as long as its true which in this case it wasnt so he was justly fined

cheesiehead, to a veteran baseball player like Wells 100k is nothing, it would be a joke to fine a player like wells 25k its like fining you a penny for that post

they wouldn't fine a beat reporter if he wrote it, the yanks always try to act like they are the saints in the game in reality it is tough to play in NY on anyone of the teams. I think he was putting the team down that he pitched it against by saying you are so weak I was stoned when I pitch a perfect game.
I think it is testament of his skills, wells is a helluva pitcher, he is the type that you just leave alone and let him do his best and will prosper, he always have higher ERA, but pitches a lot of innings and his players score for him, that is why he sucked in Chicago, because they suck.
What if Nolan Ryan team would have avg'd 4- 5 runs a game for him how many game would he had won? 600-700?
