View Full Version : Going to my first hockey game! Bruins vs Kings mikesilvia 03-02-2009, 10:10 PM Got some decent tickets on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=270349191714). Taking my mom! :) Any tips? Anyone I should heckle? scottkoz20 03-02-2009, 10:21 PM Mike Something I do is try to get there a little bit early to watch some of the pregame skate. This is something that I love to do purely to see how some of the players prepare and also you will see some minor superstitions of players. Don't leave early! And being this is your 1st game, enjoy yourself. This is a game that once you see it live, it's hard not to like it. Scott cnshockey 03-02-2009, 10:31 PM HAHAH! oh god! You should watch for number 8 on the kings. he is an amazing rookie by the name of Drew "God" Doughty (the god was the nickname i gave him haha). Kings are a good young team but boston should kill. have a fun time! geschrocks33 03-02-2009, 10:36 PM I agree with Scott, get there a bit early, enjoy yourself. Don't leave until the end, no matter what the score is mikesilvia 03-02-2009, 11:01 PM How early is early? I was planning 1 hour before game time. gosens151911 03-03-2009, 12:52 AM I usually leave for Sens game an hour and a half early so I can get a good parking spot. Not sure about boston, but Scotiabank Place the good parking lots fill up fairly quick. CSSports 03-03-2009, 02:49 AM Mike To get the whole experience, you have to get there about 35 minutes before gametime.... Like Scott Says, pregame skate will tell alot about the players...in most cases, first goalie off the ice is the starting goalie.... Have to be there for the Anthem....I can never get into a game (or any other sport event) without it...It Sets the mood for your next 2 1/2 hours..... Players to look out for: Kings - Doughty #8 (as Andy said) - This guy skates like Paul Coffey.....likes to take the puck end to end...very exciting to watch....You would never know he was a rookie....rarely out of position Brown #23 - This guy was named Captian this season and he has proved he owns that spot - He has Monsterous hits.....wouldnt be surprised if he does one on 6'7 Chara...(Brown likes to hit Pronger) Dont know much about the Bruins but Wheeler is rookie who could possibly be in the top 3 for Calder Trophy....putting up some #s but his time has been limited..... Last but not least - follow Scott's advice - DON'T LEAVE EARLY!!!!!! No matter what the score is.... I never leave....and I have seen some HUGE come backs.... Case in point - Dallas @ Kings 11/10/07 Kings down 4-0 with 13 minutes to go (keep in mind Stars have Dominated the Kings for years so a win with 4-0 was rare) Kings score 5 goals in 5 minutes to take a 5-4 lead...Stars score in the last minute and send it to OT...Kopitar wins it in OT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pm--Ig3j5n8 MatsSundin13Rocks 03-03-2009, 08:37 AM Also watch for Frolov and Kopitar on LA and watch a lot of players on Boston! They are that good! Lucic, Kreciji, Wheeler, Savard, Kessel, Bergeron, Ryder, Chara, and goalie Thomas! Have a lot of fun at the game! hungryformore 03-03-2009, 11:27 AM have a great time! there's nothing like being there. and like everyone said - enjoy warm-ups and stay till the end! super fun! cnshockey 03-03-2009, 12:10 PM and goalie Thomas! yeah don't take your eyes off thomas. you never know what will go in now:sign0020: mikesilvia 03-03-2009, 12:37 PM Well, it looks like I won another auction and now going on 12 Mar to the Senators' game (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=300297150355). :) MatsSundin13Rocks 03-03-2009, 12:40 PM Well, it looks like I won another auction and now going on 12 Mar to the Senators' game (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=3&campid=5335896190&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.dl l%3FViewItem%26ssPageName%3DSTRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT%26it em%3D300297150355). :) Those tickets are also "All You Can Eat" tickets!!! Good grief I'd love to be able to get those for that price for a Vancouver team in 5th place while you get that for a Bruins team in 1st!!! scottkoz20 03-03-2009, 12:41 PM Lots of Sens to heckle.. Daniel Alfredsson (Ottawa #11), Dany Heatley (Ottawa #15) ;) Oh, and early, 30 minutes is plenty early... the pre-game skate lasts about 15 minutes, 15 minutes to clear the ice, then 5-8 of pregame stuff (Nat'l Anthems, etc). cnshockey 03-03-2009, 12:44 PM Basically just heckle the whole ottawa team. Their goalie was the last pick in the draft lolol CSSports 03-03-2009, 03:36 PM Also watch for Frolov and Kopitar on LA and watch a lot of players on Boston! They are that good! Lucic, Kreciji, Wheeler, Savard, Kessel, Bergeron, Ryder, Chara, and goalie Thomas! Have a lot of fun at the game! Especially watch Thomas in the last minute or two...He will be skating to the bench really fast so someone else can jump on in attempts to tie the game :sign0020: MatsSundin13Rocks 03-03-2009, 04:12 PM Especially watch Thomas in the last minute or two...He will be skating to the bench really fast so someone else can jump on in attempts to tie the game :sign0020: Very funny but the Bruins are going to crush the Kings! Bruins 1st in East and Kings are like 13th in West! TysonX504 03-03-2009, 04:59 PM Have a great time at the game mike, and congrats on getting some more tickets for a bruins vs senators game cnshockey 03-03-2009, 07:36 PM Very funny but the Bruins are going to crush the Kings! Bruins 1st in East and Kings are like 13th in West! Congrats...we also have the youngest team in the NHL. doniceage 03-03-2009, 08:26 PM Mike, Wish ya the best and I would suggest taking in the scene during intermission. Some teams have auction tables great place to get to know the rep's, cheerleaders and player meet and greets before or after the game (another option on how they interact with the community), and the store with all the game used equipment they have for sale. Just another way to mingle and think how you can get some of the B fans to the the SCF hockey boards. As for enjoying the game just take Scott and Chris tips and enjoy it. I hope your mom likes hockey LOL. Don DON CSSports 03-19-2009, 11:14 PM Very funny but the Bruins are going to crush the Kings! Bruins 1st in East and Kings are like 13th in West! I still have two more years to go on my prediction. I had to leave a bit early because I took my 10-year old daughter. So, I leave when the Bruins are up 2-0. We listened to the radio version for the 3rd period and OT. :( flemingc04 03-20-2009, 05:18 PM Glad to hear you had fun at the game.
