Final Ratings (Out of 5):
Base set: 3.5/5
Fun: 3/5
Overall design: 4/5
Value: 5/5
Re-buy: 5/5
Overall: 20.5/25 (82%)
Upper Deck Series 1 is truly for set collectors. With a 500 card set, it a nice project for those who want to devote the time to it and get a sense of accomplishment when done. The design on the cards is rather bland and commonplace though. There's nothing showy about the base cards.
However, the various insert sets are great. There's a lot of variety and each set is quite different in appearance. Each one takes a life of its own and adds another facet for the set collectors out there.
It's really nice to see there was a continuation of the Yankee Stadium Legacy Set to document the final season at Yankee Stadium. Accordingly, the 2008 Documentary set finishes up in this release as well.
The Game Used and Auto cards seems generic as compared to other releases. There has to be a low point every year with card releases and I hope this is it.
For the price, you get a lot from Upper Deck Series 1 and it makes it a worthwhile purchase. This one is great for kids and adults alike.
Once again, a big thank you to our sponsors at Upper Deck for providing us with this box and the opportunity to review it.
