There are numerous inserts to be found in Upper Deck Series 1. Some are updates from year-long sets such as last year's Yankee Stadium Legacy and 2008 Documentary Sets.

This year's year-long set is the 20th Anniversary Retrospective set. Here are some of the cards from that set.

Final Ratings (Out of 5):
Base set: 3.5/5
Fun: 3/5
Overall design: 4/5
Value: 5/5
Re-buy: 5/5

Overall: 20.5/25 (82%)

Upper Deck Series 1 is truly for set collectors. With a 500 card set, it a nice project for those who want to devote the time to it and get a sense of accomplishment when done. The design on the cards is rather bland and commonplace though. There's nothing showy about the base cards.

However, the various insert sets are great. There's a lot of variety and each set is quite different in appearance. Each one takes a life of its own and adds another facet for the set collectors out there.

It's really nice to see there was a continuation of the Yankee Stadium Legacy Set to document the final season at Yankee Stadium. Accordingly, the 2008 Documentary set finishes up in this release as well.

The Game Used and Auto cards seems generic as compared to other releases. There has to be a low point every year with card releases and I hope this is it.

For the price, you get a lot from Upper Deck Series 1 and it makes it a worthwhile purchase. This one is great for kids and adults alike.

Once again, a big thank you to our sponsors at Upper Deck for providing us with this box and the opportunity to review it.

Nice review. Again, too much non-baseball for my tastes, but I like the look of the cards.

Big base set. Seems like the SRP could be lower since its mostly base cards. Thanks to UD for sending us this box!

Nice break, and nice review. This is definitely a set for set collectors, and it appears that you can complete the set with only 2 boxes.

Thanks Upper Deck!

Great review Tony. The cards look great, but I strictly want baseball stuff in a baseball product. That's my only complaint. It seems to be a great set for set builders and should be affordable for kids and adults. Personally, I'm just not a big fan of UD although their variey of inserts aren't too bad. I too think the SRP could be a little lower.

Not a fan of anyones baseball anymore. Looks more like a hodgepodge of cards tossed together. What happened to just baseball?

Keep the nonsports or other cards for other products. Like the look but wish the rookies had something special about them to standout more.

LOL, looks like some politics cards in there. I have kinda a mixed reaction when sports sets do that, but it makes for interesting collectibles sometimes.

Great review!

I know I'm way late to the party on this, but wondering if that NDLS Game 1 card is available? I'm also looking for the NLDS Game 3 card #4916.

Thanks!
