Ultimate Collection is typically one of the premier high end sets released by Upper Deck each year. However, they changed how they released the product this year. In previous years, box contained 4 packs with 4 cards each with 4 boxes per case. This year, it's 1 pack with cards per box and 15 boxes per case.

I can see the thought process behind making it 1 pack per box as not everyone is willing to sell by the pack. However, shouldn't the case at least be equal to the amount of packs in previous years?

The base and rookies are nice. Higher end cards should be made on thicker card stock like Ultimate Collection. This helps aid in accidental damage occuring and the cards just look nicer. Also, the cards are serial numbered, which makes the sets a great chase option if one chooses to take on the challenge.

However, there's a huge lack in value due to only one hits per pack/box. While you could hit it big on one pack, the hit or miss aspect is not all that appealing. Though I'm sure economic times played a part in the change, I think Upper Deck slipped up on this one.

Once again, thanks to Upper Deck for providing us with this box and the opportunity to review it.

Nice pull on the quad jersey and a good prize or whatever it is used for. That should get some people to do some tricks to get that sweet card.

nice quad jersey, not horrible not great...if I paid for the box I would be pretty annoyed with the results, but that's the risk you take with high end.

thanks to ud!

Tony, your suppose to rip open that box with your teeth!

:thumb: for the Quad pull. SRP seems a bit too high for one pack of four cards. Moving to 5 cards per pack with the fifth card being an auto would be an improvement.

Thanks for sending us this great product!

Nice review, and great pull on the quad GU! I do agree that the price is quite high for only 4 cards, and the chance of it being a low-valued card isn't a risk I'd be willing to take.

Thanks Upper Deck!

The cards are top of the line. But that box goes to show not everything that high is worth it. Quad or not horrific box!!!!

But I want to thank UD for allowing us to bust one for review.

I couldnt do it, not for that price, if i paid that and my hit was that quad id be throwing that thing across the room, i hate current player jersey cards as hits, retired or hof's another story, but with current players the jerseys are too abundant to hold any true value.
But thank you upper deck for providing the box for the review.

I gotta agree, while the quad is nice...the risk is always high when buying Highend...I think I would have been bit bummed with these results myself

I like the style of the cards as they are always great. The break was bad and not sure if i would take the chance at a box and not hit a auto.

Thanks Upper Deck !!

Ultimate Collection is a really nice looking product but I'm not sure I'm a big fan of this years design with the player position in giant letters. I could see their jersey number in giant letters but not the position. Just my thoughts on this years design.

Thanks to UD for contributing the box, however, I can see where they will have plenty of this product on hand. In my opinion, there should be little risk in high end products. If I spend $80 on 4 cards with only one hit, I expect at least one card to be $50 BV, not even SV, but I would have been livid on this. Even though it was #d 1/50 doesn't make it any better. I would have been hot. To consider that you got lucky with this numbering, I can't help but think 48 other times, you wouldn't.

Those huge letters really kill that design. Everything else looks great.
