the jets might give up their top receiver coles to get a 13th overall pick in the 2003 draft should they do it? and why are the jets like giving up they gave up randy thomas, chad morton, and john hall all to the redskins?

They all are getting too much in signing bonuses to match their contracts. Jets are smart for not overpaying for players. They can now use that money saved and get just as good quality players.

These moves are being done for salary cap reasons. FB will now be like the NBA with teams doing strange things to free up salary cap.

If they trade Coles, they will have to go back to Wayne.

I agree Serls, but giving Coles a 13 mil signing bonus is crazy. The Foreskins had better win it now, cause in a few years if all these free agents don't pan out they'll be in salary cap hell for years to come.

Well by letting Coles go they are freeing up some cap room and not overpaying for players. I heard they are looking to sign Curtis Conway or Kevin Dyson. I say why not both!!!!

They did not trade Coles. The Redskins signed Coles to an offer sheet. The Jets have 7 days from the signing to match the offer. If they do not, they are entitle to compensation which is the redskins 1st round pick. The Jets would be smart to let him go as the most important money going against the cap would be the huge signing bonus he is getting. If they matched this offer they would be strapped against the cap and they have other needs as well.
