View Full Version : Drowning in Habs Inks!
RGM81 03-13-2009, 10:09 PM I've been tinkering with this map over the past couple days. There are still a lot of holes for my liking, but when you consider that I've only physically broken 2 boxes and had to rely on trades, eBay, and the card show for the rest, I'm pretty pleased with the progress so far. I'll update the map every so often until hopefully one day it's all full of ink!

Inferno 03-13-2009, 10:32 PM Nice stuff Richard, and nice touch on the Habs-themed set map :P
hawkeye 03-14-2009, 12:27 AM nice looking, good luck. looks great
RGM81 03-14-2009, 07:53 AM Love the Youppi auto Richard!!!!
I'm really hoping I can track down the other one. For some really bizarre reason, the Youppi! autos are outselling Price and almost getting into Beliveau territory.
sholi2000 03-14-2009, 07:59 AM That's something else Richard!
RGM81 03-14-2009, 08:58 AM Nice stuff Richard, and nice touch on the Habs-themed set map :P
Thanks, I may do some more tinkering with it yet, like adding a little plate design beneath the player with the name on it. But we'll see, I've never been much of one for the visual arts, except for the time I designed this book cover. LOL

Pheebs888 03-14-2009, 09:04 AM shameless plug for your own book lol ;) only joking
Impressive Habs ink lot I must say...ever so slightly jealous. I keep being snipped for the Roy :(
RGM81 03-14-2009, 09:39 AM I had a really good offer yesterday for the Roy that I may yet regret turning down. I'd already picked up two autos off the guy (Lafleur and Gainey) and he offered me the Roy for an extra $100. I probably should have taken it but I've been spending like a drunken sailor the last couple days and want to slow down in case any new Gorges/Price stuff shows up in the next little while.
hossa18sens 03-14-2009, 11:48 AM Very nice Richard. Love the look of the map.
Keep the updates coming.
Inferno 03-14-2009, 11:52 AM Richard you should have grabbed that Roy!
Prime B 03-14-2009, 03:07 PM Looks terrific so far, keep it coming!
gladdyontherise 03-14-2009, 08:49 PM Sweet Cards!!
kroetche 03-15-2009, 02:10 PM wow thats a huge project but good luck!!
Walter Sobchak 03-15-2009, 03:53 PM They definitely did well with this set. GL on the massive task at hand lol
Pheebs888 03-15-2009, 04:19 PM $100? Now that was a bargain!
senrab 03-16-2009, 05:57 PM Glad to see the Gingras and Tremblay autos in your hands. Good luck!
RGM81 03-21-2009, 02:18 PM Status update: over 50% complete! The two latest additions, Vachon and Lambert, came from the card show today--the show that I thought was next weekend and only happened to catch because I was on my way to the card shop and saw the billboard. BTW, the card shop was closed for the weekend! Aye-yi-aye!
quiet-things 03-21-2009, 03:20 PM Which one will be hardest to acquire?
Inferno 03-21-2009, 03:31 PM You're keeping a good pace Richard, can't wait to see you finish this!
I second Houng's question, what are you expecting the tough ones to be?
senrab 03-21-2009, 05:25 PM Youppi might be...it's going for ridiculous prices on ebay.
Also RGM - which Hab out of this collection would you say does the least amount of autos?
RGM81 03-21-2009, 06:48 PM If I had to wager about the toughest ones - for sure the confirmed SPs, but beyond that it'll be Patrick Roy and Jean Beliveau. And yeah, probably that other Youppi! that I still need. Who honestly would have thought that the freakin' mascot would have so much hobby love?
As for the rarer signers, Kovalev and Gainey don't generally sign all that often. I don't remember seeing a single 07-08 Kovy auto, and Gainey hasn't signed in years for a product. Beyond that, I'd say a handful of the legends and a few of the players from the 80s/90s. You definitely don't see a ton of J.J. Daigneault autos on the market!
senrab 03-21-2009, 06:51 PM I'd never even heard of some of those people, like when I pulled the Gaston Gingras
RGM81 03-21-2009, 06:52 PM Yeah Gingras was one of those guys that's like a Mike McPhee - somebody that was on the team during a Cup win. LOL
senrab 03-21-2009, 06:53 PM or Brian Engblom
Olivertoxxin 03-21-2009, 07:14 PM Very nice good luck with finding the rest.
fdp79 03-22-2009, 04:31 PM i have the other youppi auto...pm sent
RGM81 04-02-2009, 11:24 AM Progressing nicely. I'm really hoping that the Lapointe arrives today or tomorrow!
senrab 04-02-2009, 11:26 AM I like Brisebois' autograph. LOL
RGM81 04-02-2009, 01:13 PM Funny you should mention Breeze. I was looking at a couple Brian Savage autos on the Bay, and I tell ya, they must have developed their penmanship together because it's strikingly similar.
leafsfandan 04-02-2009, 03:30 PM looking good.. hope someone can throw you a life vest
