View Full Version : How do you like to view trade lists?
gretzky99 03-18-2009, 02:10 PM I've tried a bunch of different ways to post my trade lists and was wondering what everyone thinks is the best way to do that.
1. With links to scans (sadly, we can't post straight scans here)
2. By type of card (autos, gu, rc's, etc.)
3. By team
4. By year
Nathan7070 03-18-2009, 02:12 PM I prefer scans to be honest but they are not allowed in the trade forum.
Otherwise listed by year and type of cards works for me.
zPens87z 03-18-2009, 02:15 PM I like the list per year. Then have a photobucket link just to show what you have. I like to see the scans (or pictures) of what I am getting.
gretzky99 03-18-2009, 02:29 PM i tried to post a poll but waited too long i guess...i'll add the options above that i thought of.
quiet-things 03-18-2009, 03:28 PM I would do by type, and within the type of cards, go by year
30ranfordfan 03-18-2009, 03:37 PM It really depends on what the list is.
I like a nice list, sorted by Type (Rookies, GU, Auto, Inserts, etc) and then within those lists.... sorted by year / set.
Scans are useful, but not necessary. I don't deal with a lot of GU or Auto stuff.... and that's when I would like to see one. If we're traded RCs for RCs (as an example) I don't really need to see a scan of your Young Guns.
Bakeryracing 03-18-2009, 03:44 PM i like scans as well. I hate lists
senrab 03-18-2009, 05:14 PM I can't stand lists, I don't have the attention span LOL. Sorry
gretzky99 03-18-2009, 05:20 PM seems like there isn't really a concensus here. maybe a combinataion of scans organized in a list?
garnett_21 03-18-2009, 05:27 PM For my own personal list, I go by year, and highlight gu, auto and #d different colors.
cnshockey 03-18-2009, 06:58 PM I would do by type, and within the type of cards, go by year
EXACTLY! that is what i was going to say!!!
blindros88 03-19-2009, 01:55 AM I prefer a list with a link to a scan because it is easier to use the search function if the player name or set is listed in the post.
cprince80 03-19-2009, 06:09 AM I like listed by year then set. I look for specific players rc's and auto's but I wont buy or trade for certain sets, I like to quickly read down a list. I supose that's only best if you dont collect alot of different players or sets.
maradona 03-19-2009, 07:38 AM List sorted by year and type of card (GU/AU/inserts etc.). Scans are a plus but not entirely necessary, except for GU cards that have in whatever way a special swatch.
reoddai 03-19-2009, 12:14 PM This really deserves a poll.. maybe close this thread and start another?
The problem with trade listing is that you like to list how you collect (ie set collectors want by set, player collecters by name, team collectors by team and Eye catches by type). Personally, I think the priorities out there are player collectors and eye catchers. so, Photobucket is often the way to go.
If you want the best covered though, since there are so many types you have to accommodate mostly everyone.
If you want to see my compromise you can check out how I sort my traders. I have two links:
1. List by year and set with last names of players. This list is text searchable using your own browser and can find by name, set or year. Cards have URL links to my photobucket in case you want to see the card.
2. Photobucket sorted by type and tagged by team. This is searchable by team or card type.
I hope that my method can satisfy most all collecting types, but its really featured to set collectors and eye catches and does some satisfaction for the team collector with the payer collector in last place. If I hit a lazy player collectors I can always do a quick search for them in my own list and let them know what I have pretty quick.
All the best with whatever way you decide to display your trades!
Cheers,
reoddai
gretzky99 03-19-2009, 07:04 PM yes, i tried to do a poll but got interrupted after posting the thread and it was too late to add a poll.
i've tried a bunch of different ways and i'm figuring out that everyone has different ideas, so i've tried to do as much as possible without making it overbearing.

What we really need is a system similar to what SCF has, but with less hassle in filling the inventory. Something that accepts text files.
gretzky99 03-19-2009, 08:24 PM yeah, it would be nice to just be able to post scans. that's what i do at other sites and it seems to work very well.
alpinemedic 03-19-2009, 08:27 PM I don't mind searching photbuckets, as I like to look at the cards.
