I really wonder what this guy's seller fees would look like if he accepts an offer for the usual $400-$600. He'd actually lose thousands.

I don't get it. the seller can lose thousands on his final value fees if he sells it for 400-600?

Yea Ebay charges a final value fee with buy it nows. It is usually a % of the LISTED price, not the sale value. I know it comes to about $65 for a $1000 buy it now, so for $1,000,000 hes looking at tens of thousands of dollars.

I dont think thats accurate. it only charges that much if it actually SELLS for that much. if it sells for less you pay less. FVF is based on final price, not what you list at.

Thats only for auctions. Buy it nows tell you what fee you will be charged upon listed it, and it is always based off the listed price.

Im sorry, thats incorrect. Go to this page:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html#fixed

If it doesnt sell, no fee. If it does sell, it depends on category, but it's always some percentage of the closing value. The number it shows you when you start the fixed price listing is what the fee would be if it sold at the BIN price. I tested this to be sure.

You are right. The fee is based on the sale price and not the listed price.
