View Full Version : Report: Gillett considers selling Canadiens senrab 03-23-2009, 02:10 PM per TSN, from story in La Presse http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=272372 RGM81 03-23-2009, 02:54 PM We've been joking over at Habs Inside/Out that all the forum members should pool their cash and buy the team. :) senrab 03-23-2009, 03:59 PM Sell all your Habs Inks, then you can buy them ;-) doniceage 03-23-2009, 10:02 PM Why sell them when the chips are down. If you really wanted to sell why would you not sell them when the team was hot like last year? DON gregmal05 03-24-2009, 12:01 AM I'd laugh if George Steinbrenner bought them. I know he was a partial owner of the Devils a few years back, but imagine owning both the Yankees and Canadiens? RGM81 03-24-2009, 10:30 AM Why sell them when the chips are down. If you really wanted to sell why would you not sell them when the team was hot like last year? DON A year ago he probably wasn't in something vaguely resembling financial peril. With his wide-ranging portfolio, he's been hit hard in a lot of areas due to the economy. And it doesn't matter what the on-ice product is like, to own the Montreal Canadiens will always be an expensive proposition. Bakeryracing 03-24-2009, 10:58 AM I'd laugh if George Steinbrenner bought them. I know he was a partial owner of the Devils a few years back, but imagine owning both the Yankees and Canadiens? yeah to bad he will have to work with something that is called a salary cap if he buys a Canadiens. Something he knows nothing about. lol RGM81 03-24-2009, 11:36 AM yeah to bad he will have to work with something that is called a salary cap if he buys a Canadiens. I agree I dont think there is any company out there that has not got the pinch, and most of these rich guys own stuff because of CREDIT not cash. It proablly has nothing to do with a team.he might just need cash for something else. like a box of "the cup" cards senrab 03-24-2009, 07:15 PM He should put the Habs up for sale on ebay sholi2000 03-24-2009, 08:05 PM I'd love to be an NHL team owner. Oh the fun! I wonder if I can put my pension into part ownership?:heh: |
