View Full Version : Clutterbuck sets new NHL Record!
geschrocks33 03-26-2009, 09:42 AM Well as some of you may know, even though he isn't very well known, Cal Clutterbuck is one of my PC guys.
Wednesday night vs. the Islanders Clutterbuck recording 7 hits.
This put is league leading total to 317 hits, which is a new NHL Record.
I was pretty excited to see this and hope he continues racking up the hits til the end of the season!
patrickadams26 03-26-2009, 01:18 PM i believe he will get up to 329-334 hits
geschrocks33 03-26-2009, 02:49 PM I'm hoping he can get to like 350
30ranfordfan 03-26-2009, 05:51 PM Good for Cal..... but I hope you guys don't take this stat too seriously. What is considered a 'hit' is very subjective, and varies from building to building.... depending on who's keeping track / judging.
Obviously, even if those numbers are inflated a bit.... Clutterbuck is throwing the body around like crazy. Not trying to knock him..... just the ineffective stats the NHL keeps.
geschrocks33 03-26-2009, 05:53 PM Whether or not the hits are counted correctly or anything, he's one of the best physical players in the NHL

Well as long as he not doing stupid penalties and hurting the team it always nice to have a guy that going play physical. As all teams need that just not sure how his plus minus rating compares to the rest of the team.

geschrocks33 03-26-2009, 09:08 PM His plus minus is -6. Which isn't the greatest, but when you have a solid physical player like that, that isn't taking stupid penalties, it's a great asset to your team IMO
michiganice91 03-26-2009, 09:25 PM His name is soooo annoying. I often spoonerism it and call him buttercluck. I'm so happy for him and his super stat.
geschrocks33 03-26-2009, 09:26 PM His name is the reason I began to like him! I love it. Calllllllll Clutterbuck!
senrab 03-26-2009, 09:36 PM Way to go, Buttercup! (as Don Cherry would say) :winking0071::party0048:

umm jack johnson is a -20 in around 30 games. granted the kings are not doing well as of late and johnson missed two months but still. i think clutterbuck is effective as long as he can hit but stay out of the box
geschrocks33 03-26-2009, 09:42 PM I think plus/minus is a stupid stat anyways. You can't always help it if you're on the Ice for a goal or not.

As I said if your not taking stupid penalties you will help your team. Especially, if people try to retaliate for clean hits and you get them to take a penalty. Comparing the Kings to the Wilds is not quite fair look as the Wild truly have a awesome coach no matter the caliber of the players. The made it with players such as Walz's, Park's, and a list of guys that most collectors never collect. Just like the Devils they fit the system and don't cost too much.

geschrocks33 03-26-2009, 09:49 PM Very good input there Don

Win as a team, lose as a team. Same philosophy
leafsfandan 03-27-2009, 02:13 AM i believe that kostitsyn will lead the league in hits.. oh my bad.. thought you were talking about bong hits
