DENVER (Reuters) - International ice hockey chief Rene Fasel will work day and night to make sure NHL players take part in the 2014 Sochi Olympics, he said on Thursday.

Fasel could be looking at some long days ahead after NHL commissioner Gary Bettman gave a less than enthusiastic outlook on the league's players continuing to participate in the Games.

I like it better if it went back to the amateur athletes

i totally agree, watching world juniors compared to NHL is more fun then ever, they have heart soul out there. its fast paced and hard hitting hockey, NHL is nothing imo compared to world juniors style...i would love to see it at Olympics lvl

I disagree. Although jr hockey is amazing to watch. The Olympics are to watch the best athletes in the world perform. With NHL players playing you get to watch the best hockey players in the world play. They may not have as huge hearts as jr players but have way more expirience and they dont have to prove as much as jrs trying to make it to the NHL. A Canadian NHL player will always have the heart and just as much as playing for team Canada!
