View Full Version : Anyone hit up the "big" card show in montreal today? cdn_blue 03-28-2009, 12:02 PM Montreal's biggest card show of the year is happening this weekend. Did anyone go? Was it any good? CoolHandLuke 03-28-2009, 12:14 PM where is it, never heard about it. cdn_blue 03-28-2009, 12:55 PM They should pay me for this advertisement..... It's at the Centre Pierre Charbonneau, 3000 Viau. Saturday 10-6, Sunday 10-5. It cost 9$ for adults, 8$ for seniors, 6$ for kids 6-16 to get in. There are about 100 booths. They hold it twice a year, usually around this time and in October. cdn_blue 03-29-2009, 06:26 PM Bump roy.the.greatest 03-29-2009, 07:15 PM I was there today, it was an okay show. We clearly see we are in a period where the economy is not really good. cdn_blue 03-29-2009, 07:43 PM I was there today, it was an okay show. We clearly see we are in a period where the economy is not really good. What do you mean? Not very many people? Lower prices? CoolHandLuke 03-30-2009, 08:58 AM Did not know it was twice a year, I wrote this article back in October 2008 and made three video hosted on SCF youtube channel. http://www.sportscardforum.com/articles/?p=448 See the three video link at the end of the article, first one is of the show back in October. roy.the.greatest 03-30-2009, 02:02 PM What do you mean? Not very many people? Lower prices? Less dealers comparatively to previous years, but also less collectors. But overall the show was okay from what I saw there. About prices, I didn't see something I really wanted for my collection, so I didn't bargain with dealers to exactly see the best prices they are willing to do. However, I would say if someone had a $1000 card to sell, he got hard time just to find a collector with $1000 cash in his pocket ready to spend. On the other side, you have crazy dealers asking $1000+ for names like Jaroslav Halak. :boxing: Whatever the card, no Jaroslav Halak card is actually surpassing the $300-400 cash mark, not a single card. $2000 is the range of price for some Patrick Roy and Wayne Gretzky cards, never Jaroslav Halak. Moreover, dealers like that talk to you like you never got a card like this in your hands... the problem is I have 20 cards like that (and way better names than Jaroslav Halak) when it is the first one this dealer got one in his life! Some dealers have the feeling to win a million dollar lottery with a card like that! It was just funny, but I imagine a fan of Jaroslav Halak having hard time to understand the asking price of this dealer. 30ranfordfan 03-30-2009, 02:05 PM What kind of Halak card were they asking $1000 on?? nabby12 03-30-2009, 03:18 PM yeh the prices were very crazy i heard! |
