The Washington Capitals moved to just three points behind East-leading Boston with a 5-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Alex Ovechkin scored twice to run his league-leading total up to 53 goals. Ovechkin also had a pair of assists and Brian Pothier netted the eventual game-winner 4:30 into the third period, less than two minutes after the Capitals finished blowing a 3-1 lead.
