The main reason to purchase this offering would have to be for the potential for premium cards (i.e., autographs and memorabilia cards). Beyond that, only the most anally dedicated collectors will be interested in Wheels Elements 2009. Design and photography are not enough, these days, to convince the savvy collector to purchase a product. Whoever envisioned Wheels Elements clearly did not have a handle on the copious changes upcoming to NASCAR in the short, now perennially silly off-season.

If it were only one or two major discrepancies in drivers, teams, car makes and owners depicted on the cards that would be one thing. But, in this instance the correct driver/team/sponsor/car owner ratio is utterly abominable. To add insult to injury, in certain cases sponsors are airbrushed off the uniforms and generic graphics added. For the Jack Daniel's Clint Bowyer cards. Jack Daniel's is airbrushed off, and Bowyer's 07 numbers is added to the hood of the car or uniform. Likewise, Budweiser is not shown on the #9 Kasey Kahne car or his uniform. Yet other liquor manufacturers such as Miller Light's logos are shown. What gives? But, regarding the cards with wrong sponsors and drivers for 2009, the thing that makes this so offensive is that these changes (in this case, Bowyer was announced to be in the 33 General Mills products (Cheerios, etc.) car for 2009 back in October 2008) were well advertised in advance. So, there is really no excuse whatsoever for such an inaccurate depiction of a driver and car sponsor as this set shows. And, it's not the only error of this type in this set

I actually liked Elements, Kind of pricy for me but then thats my Card Shop. Does this guy follow NASCAR regularly? The Beer sponser thing has been around for a while. Not really sure why Miller lite and Coors lite could do it. Understand with the young kids who follow Racing and buy diecast & cards.

The major companies have donated products to him for years. He covers everything racing, baseball, hockey, football, basketball, and other sports as well. Just a true aficionado of anything sports related of course just like SCF has people share their opinion on products.

I strongly disagree with this article. I found Element to be very enjoyable. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the reason why you don't see Bud or JD on the cards (and haven't for years!) is a combination of a licensing agreement and the fact that they both have a stance that kids collect cards and they don't want to see their product marketed to children. I thought the whole idea of Element was well thought out. If it made even one kid who was collecting these interested in the periodic table, then it should be deemed a success.

QFT. I thought the Element release was wonderful, and was one of the first sets in a long time that I actually WANTED to put together a master set of.

Element was different. Something fresh from Press Pass.

The one good thing about Element (versus Premium) was that there were NO stick-on Autographs!

This person is obviously not a Racing collector. Element was a great release! Something fresh and somewhat different. If this person was a Racing collector then they would know that Premium is the first release of the year depicting all the drivers in their current sponsor uniforms. Also, its the Sponsors who make the decision of if their logo is printed on the card not Press Pass.

Hey Guys,
Russ from Card Corner. This article has been hard to view from the database, sorry. I wanted to let you know that Val wrote it, not me, I don't have the ability to write about Nascar and I will pass on your comments. Sorry about the technical issue.
