The main reason to purchase this offering would have to be for the potential for premium cards (i.e., autographs and memorabilia cards). Beyond that, only the most anally dedicated collectors will be interested in Wheels Elements 2009. Design and photography are not enough, these days, to convince the savvy collector to purchase a product. Whoever envisioned Wheels Elements clearly did not have a handle on the copious changes upcoming to NASCAR in the short, now perennially silly off-season.
If it were only one or two major discrepancies in drivers, teams, car makes and owners depicted on the cards that would be one thing. But, in this instance the correct driver/team/sponsor/car owner ratio is utterly abominable. To add insult to injury, in certain cases sponsors are airbrushed off the uniforms and generic graphics added. For the Jack Daniel's Clint Bowyer cards. Jack Daniel's is airbrushed off, and Bowyer's 07 numbers is added to the hood of the car or uniform. Likewise, Budweiser is not shown on the #9 Kasey Kahne car or his uniform. Yet other liquor manufacturers such as Miller Light's logos are shown. What gives? But, regarding the cards with wrong sponsors and drivers for 2009, the thing that makes this so offensive is that these changes (in this case, Bowyer was announced to be in the 33 General Mills products (Cheerios, etc.) car for 2009 back in October 2008) were well advertised in advance. So, there is really no excuse whatsoever for such an inaccurate depiction of a driver and car sponsor as this set shows. And, it's not the only error of this type in this set
