Arod's probably currently the best player in the game, so he will win out on any of these guys.

Jeter he has 4 rings to Nomar,Arod and tejada's impressive amount of 0. I think that stat says it all

Better player: Right now, it's clearly AROD. Jeter has the rings, but look at the teams they're on. I think the Yankees would be even better with AROD.

HEY, don't say that. George might see this post and go buy Arod now.

I'm sure even George wouldn't be willing to pay him more than what he's getting paid now. AROD is a great player, but talk about overpaid...

I don't see Arod as being overpaid. In today's market he is the best player and should be paid the most. Soon enough someone who is less skilled will make even more than Arod.

Here's where we differ in opinion. I don't think he's definitely the best player. He's one of the best players, but players like Bonds or Guerrero are comparable as hitters. However, he is making way more than anyone else. I believe the second highest offer he received as a free agent as $18 million a year (which is what I believe to be his market value) and Tom Hicks offered him $25 million. That is overpaying.

yea but wiht all the yankees money they could just buy another ring...jk yankee fans...i do agree with bbgiants and think hes being way overpaid when others who are just as good or almost as good are gettign paid much less

In my opinion, his numbers over the last 3 years show that he is the best player in baseball with Bonds being a close second. I like Vladi a lot but to say he's in the same class as Arod is a far stretch. Arod's going to make $22 million in 2003. Bonds in 2003 (including $5 million in signing bonus for the next 2 years) will be making $18 million. Manny Ramirez in 2003 will be making $18 million. I don't see the Arod salary as overpaying. He's the best player in the majors (in my opinion) and should be paid the most.

Overpaid is Albert Belle, Jeremy Burnitz and Mo Vaughn see the trend, they are bad and make WAY too much.

AROD is possibly the best in the game and at this pace will eventually break the All-time HR record. When your the best you should be paid the most!!!

When you're paid $5-7 million a year more than the second highest paid player in baseball, you have to be that much better. Right now, not only is AROD NOT that much better than Bonds, but Bonds is still a more productive hitter than AROD even at this point.

4 million more than Bonds is not 5-7 million, and wasn't Manny's contract before Arod's? Manny set the bar and Arod's better than him. The only reason Bonds argeed to his contract was because he wanted to finish his career in San Fran. If he would have went elsewhere, he'd be making more than Arod's 22 million this year.

AROD is still averaging $25 million a year over 10 years. Aren't you supposed to get paid less if you take a long term contract? BTW: Bonds would not have gotten a 20+ million a year contract even though he's the better hitter because managers realized how foolish Tom Hicks was for signing AROD to that contract.

Yeah, you're right, Arod can't field... he just won a gold glove last year for shits and giggles.

Don't go on average salary, that's foolish. Arod next year is making 22 million. Arod will prob never make over 25 million because his contract will be nulled after 2007. By then, there definitely will be someone getting paid more than 25 million who isn't as good as Arod. You know what's crazy? I don't care how good Bonds is now but he'll get 20 million in 2005. What, he'll be like 42 then? Arod will be in his prime making that 25 million and is well worth it.
