Stick found years ago in basement bears signatures of Canada's gold-medal team

It is a genuine sliver of hockey history, from a time when men wore sweaters, goalies faced the puck without protection and Canada reigned supreme.

"It was in the basement. I had no idea that it would be of any value at all," said Jeanne Dodwell, 88, describing the hockey stick she found while cleaning out her north Toronto home. The stick bears the signatures of the Toronto Granites, the Canadian team that scored Olympic gold in the 1924 winter games in France. "I have butterflies in my stomach."
