What the hell is he thinking, he has screwed me again in fantasy football. it was just on sportscenter, he would rather travel abroad than play professional football

he will regret it, what an idiot!!!!!!!!

It is a shock. He always played by his own rules though. I wonder if his decision is final, and why are you screwed in fantasy football?

Wow, that is unbelievable. Talk about an early retirement for a guy that has so much left in him.

That is a huge loss for the Dolphins, I am shocked.

I wouldn't call him an idiot. He made a decesion that he felt was right. You can't blame him for what he wants to do with his life. That would be like me calling you an idiot for posting.

Probably the best player on his team and the most expensive.

Wow....I am totally stunned!

If he his happy in his decision I am happy for him. I am sure he has more than enough money for him and his loved ones to live on if he has made wise investments.

Wow.....LOL....I bet Miami is wishing EG was still available!

Peace~

I cannot beleive this, he has been my favorite player since he moved to Miami. I spose I'll still be collecting cards of him. I met him last year and got a couple autos. It does say that one of the factors he's retiring is because he tested positive for marijuana.

he's just one of those guys like robert smith who doesn't even like football to begin with. they just knew they were good at it and it would pay well. they made their money and got out.

I was very surprised when I turned on SC this morning and saw that. I figured he would play for at least 7 or 8 more years. I totally disagree with calling him an idiot though. If football no longer interests him as a career then why should he have to keep playing if he doesn't want to? I don't know how much he was making but he is probably giving up millions of dollars just to be able to do what he really wants.

Why will he regret it? Why do people think he's an idiot? Is Jim Brown an idiot? Is Barry Sanders an idiot? No, they're running backs that left the game on their terms.

I can't beleive he's retiring, He left the fins with a hugh hole that at this point can't be filled with another great player. The fins should track him down and convince him to stay, what a way to wake up on a sunday.
This totally sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this last night on SC & was gonna post but I figured I'd let a Dolphin fan do it. I don't think he's an idiot but he sure screwed the Dolphins with his timing. If he had done it a week earlier the Dolphins could have had a shot at Eddie George, a few months ago, Corey Dillon. If he would have waited until the end of the season, at least the Dolphins could prepare for it. Their whole offense was centered around him & this a major blow that they probably can't recover from.

I'll explain why he is a complete idiot, he left his team hanging out to dry. If he had decided this a few months ago they could have at least tried to get Dillon or something, now he has completely shafted his teammates for an entire year. that's pretty bad

I read now they might try to get Mack from the texans, GEEZ they go from Williams to Mack???. I say he's an a**h*** for this at this time, I could have been happy to have Eddie George if this had to happen, but now were going to another crappy RB

Enough with the insults, it's his life, it's his choice. If you don't like it, complain on a Dolphins fan board not here.

probably for the same reason that Robert Smith of the Vikings did:

they made enough money, and didn't want to risk a career-life threatening injury that could paralyze them for life, like Mike Utley

Ricky's a druggy who had a horrible season (on his standards) last year..... I dont like to see him go but I dont like him, hes just a good player compared to Travis Minor.

I'm glad he returned to the game. Had he avoided temptation he probably would have a had a HOF career. Very talented back but hampered his own success.

Hmmmm, IDK. He still has a lot left. but yet he does make the University of Texas look bad. I just think he can still be a productive RB in the NFL.

But then again, I know how he feels. Dont do something you dont want to just for the money. Do what makes you happy, and if this is what he wants to do then go for it. I actually didnt read the article, maybe I should do that.

He played pretty well last year and could probably play a few more years if he has the desire to.
