It doen't have to be your best, just the one item in your collection that you would never trade because it's special to you. Please say what it is and why.

Mine is a Gilbert Arenas Retro Autographed jersey. I love this piece because my aunt gave it to me for my birthday when she was going through hard times with her health.

I started collecting back in December of 1991. In the summer of 1993, my dad handed me an unused ticket. He knew I had collected and gave that ticket to me, maybe it had some worth. I really couldn't believe he had this ticket from that same night back in October 1977. He found it in the elevator but thought nothing of it as there was a game on that night and rushed to catch it. Anyway, a few months later (November 1993) I had it signed by the player who had a huge night on that very date.

Yankees were my childhood team - when it was more about the game and the fans rather than building a new stadium by taking money from the very people who could not afford to go to the games in the first place.

Mine is probably three oil paintings I have of former Dayton Flyers basketball coaches (Jim O'Brien, Oliver Purnell, & Brian Gregory). The painting hung for years in a highly respected restaurant here locally in Dayton, OH named Dominics. They were painted by a local artist and donated to the restaurant because a lot of coaches and players used to eat there as it was just off campus and one of the few Italian restaurants in that area. I picked up one of them at the auction the owners held a few years back when the business closed and the other two I got off of ebay from a guy that runs a booth at a near by flea market, there are two more of the most famous coaches in Flyer history (Tom Blackburn & Don Donoher) that I hope to find some day and then I will have all five that hung in the Restaurant.

Mine would be my NASCAR flag. Back in 2002 I bought a 3' x 5' checkered flag, and ever since then, it's been a project I've been working on. Anytime I meet a different driver, I'll have him sign it. It's been with me to many different NASCAR tracks/signings over the years, and it's still got a long ways to go. Someday when it's really packed full, I'll pay the ton of money and get it framed. Here's a picture of it:

Mine would have to be a 1988 World Series 16x20 photo of Kirk Gibson and Orel Hershiser that I got at a signing they did at Hollywood Park last year. I was lucky enough to be in attendance at Game 1 of the 88 World Series and it's my favorite sports moment of all time. PSA/DNA was on site and authenticated the signing, and I had a local shop frame it up real nice. Sorry the pics are small, they really don't do it justice. But it's probably the one piece of my collection that I would never part with.

I don't have a lot of cool stuff (yet) but this is my favorite. It's a signed black and white photo of the picture that eventually appeared on the '52 Topps Mantle. It's limited to 1952 pieces and looks awesome w/ the '52 Topps replica card in the display.

I went to the same signing. Had them sign an 88 WS program. My favorite memory from that was Hershiser was signing in the back and they had us come in one by one to get our items signed. As he was signing the item, I snapped a quick picture. He then looked up and asked "Would you like to be in the picture?" Needless to say, I got a picture with my all-time favorite Dodger.

5 Years ago I decided to collect packer memoribilia. My goal was to get a ball signed by Favre and a ball signed by Starr. Well, was at green bay packers training camp and got an autograph ticket to go to a signing after the first practice. Favre only signs one day a year and I was lucky to get it on that day. Got to meet him and shake his hand and got this signed.

the next spring I went to Packer fan fest and got a ticket for guess who.. Starr.

My would have to be my Hockey Book. It's called "For the Love of Hockey", its a book basically written by hockey players, past and present. Each page has photos with a career write up written by the palyer themself....During various auto signings throughout the years I have managed to obtain aprox 30 different autos with about 8-10 players right on the Bio pages. Check it out, its far and away my fave collectable...

I won't show all the pics as it is just too much. The best part is the players who sign seem to always take the time to read the write ups and check out old pics of themselves. One time I had a group of old timers (Kirk Muller, Steve Shutt and Tiger Willaims) all take the book and huddle around talking to each other about a specific pic that they had never seen before.

Thanks for letting me share,
Nash

I have a few things that are special to me.. So as i find the pictures ill post them here.

First off my Game Used Shoe "kicking foot" Autographed and worn by Joe Nedney.

http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee207/49erFrick/IMG_0001.jpg

This was giving to me by my buddy Joe Nedney of the 49ers this past season after he used it kick the game winner vs the Washington Redskins. One of the main reasons i like it alot is my friends at work are redskins fans, so every now and then i bring it into work so they can remember the kick.

My next item is from last season, Season Used Keith "killa keith" Lewis Jersey. He was a stand up guy at training camp and had given me a Game used football from the Browns game in 07, so i decided to rep his jersey.

I had made a custom throwback with Killa Keith as the name. From the first game he saw me wearing it, he came over and talked to me. Said he was getting tons of props from the locker room about it and what not. So at the end of the season, i said hey Keith ill give you the Killa Keith for your season used jersey. And he said i can do that so here are pics of that.

Next is my Game used Frank Gore Autographed Glove. I ran into him at the carolina airport after the panthers game in 07, he was on his way to Sean Taylors funeral. We chatted it up for a few and he hooked me up with a pic and signed this.

All the stuff above of mine is cool. But the item with the Absolute most meaning to it is this last item im going to post. I guess I can give a little bit of the background behind it before i show you the item.

In 2007, I went to every 49ers game home and away all 16. I called it the Quest for 16. Anyways, i am real big into photography, so i would always get to the stadium early to take pictures of pregame warmups. Well who are the first 2 always out on the field... Kicker and Punter. Well it just so happens that my bday is in April, so i had a custom jersey #4 authentic both home and away that i would wear to the games. So every week, Joe and Andy both saw me wearing the #4 which happens to be same # as Andy Lee. So it was a rough season, so i considered it an Andy Lee jersey, and always rooted for the punter.. He ended up making it to the probowl needless to say.

Well anyways, when i traveled to the probowl 2 seasons ago, I had a probowl helmet, and was wearing my #4 jersey. I had asked andy to come over and sign it before the game was even near. And he just waved and blew me off. So the next year at Training camp, i decided to no longer wear the #4. First thing, Nedney spots me and is like hey Fricker, why arent you wearing the Lee jersey. I told him the story, he kinda laughed and said give the guy a break, he is still a kid and not used to having fans. I will talk to him for you.

So season comes along, and one of my buddies is cousins with Delanie Walker and he called me one day saying Nedney and Lee were asking about me, that they wanted to do something special to thank me for my dedication. So he handed the phone to Joe Nedney and we were talking for a good 20 mins on my way to the airport. He was like hey Andy and I want to give you something special whats your address. So i gave it to him on the phone. And then hung up. So time is passing and still no box. Well i goto the 49ers vs Giants game with a buddy who is a giants fan but a best friend of mine for forever. He doesnt believe me that i know Nedney, and so we get inside. And im like hey Joe, Joe waves and then walks off. My friend starts busting out laughing, thinking Joe straight up cold shouldered me. Little did he know i was watching, and Nedney went over to the bag of team balls pulled a special one out of the bottom of the bag and walked over to me and tossed it to me.

He said here man i was going to send it to you, but figured id see you at a game anyways so saved it for you. Just want to let you know Andy Lee and I are your #1 Fans. We are always talking about you. Thanks for being loyal... My friends mouth Drops... So here are the pics of the most special item to me.

Mine isnt a sports item, but more political and historical. Back in the 90's, Our state got to host a town meeting with then President Bill Clinton. I got picked to sit in the audience and after the town meeting was over, got to meet him and shake hands. I took that opportunity ( along with only 3 other people ) to see if he would autograph my question I was hoping to get to ask. Well, i didn't get to ask it, but he did autograph it and then wrote a full paragraph on the paper. I even got lucky enough to stand next to the Limo with his driver waiting inside.

My Uncle is the President of the Jim Thorpe Association. So, in 2001 when Oklahoma's safety Roy Williams won the award, he took me to Miami, FL with him to be on the Home Depot Awards show. He got to present the award to Roy, live on ESPN. After the show was over, I met alot of the award winners that year, and many of the coaches. Later that night, we went out into the parking lot, where there was a limousine parked. We opened up the door, and inside was Roy Williams, and he was holding a helmet and a sharpie marker. He told me that my Uncle was a cool cat, and wanted me to have this helmet. So he signed it in front of me, and gave it to me. :love0030:

Although its not the most valuable piece in my collection....it definaeltely has the best story behind it. (Especially because I am an Oklahoma fan)

(But every year, I get to meet the Thorpe Award winner, and hang out with them. I still call Terrance Newman every once in a while to say whats up)

But heres the helmet!!!

#1 Willie Mays autographed NY Giants Hat. Met was signing in San Diego outside Qualcomm during a RV show.
#2 Stan Musial autographed St Louis Hat (old style)
#3 Roy Seivers autographed St Louis Browns Hat (49 AL ROY)

My other one is my Dale Earnhardt hood pin. The day he won the Atlanta spring race in 2000, my dad and I snuck into the garage area after the race, while the officials were inspecting Dale's car, and Dale was still in there. He talked to us for a few minutes, which is something I had never seen him do. He was not the most fan friendly driver there was. But right after he got into a car to be taken back to his bus, they were loading his car back onto the hauler, and I asked one of the crew members if I could have a hoodpin off the car. He gave it to me, and I still have it.

I can't say I wouldn't sell it, because he wasn't my favorite, but it's still a very memorable story. I miss going to the track.

My favorite NFT Ever is this Joe Torre Auto Ball.

My dad got it for me. I submitted an article to SCF that speaks to "why" it is my most prized memorabilia piece here- http://www.sportscardforum.com/articles/?p=691

And here is the ball -
