The rangers have traded leech to the oilers for G markkanen and a 4th round pick. Wonder how long he will be an oiler , seems like any time they get a decent player they trade them away for a crappy player.

He is never gonna play for them. The only reason he was traded to them is that when Leetch signs with another team both NY and Edmonton get a compensatory draft pick.

He wasn't really traded, Leetch will be/is a free agent and will just latch on with another team. Edmonton did this trade for a(some) compensatory draft pick(s). New York did this to try and get something out of a guy they thought they could not resign.

And the Rangers just did the same thing with Mark Messier trading him to San Jose.

the trade was simply to get a compensatory pick from the team that signs him. he will probably never wear an Oilers uni.

I don't know where Leech and these other FA's think they're going to get big money deals from when the CBA is up at the end of next year... just take your 1 year deal for now like Forsberg and be happy!
