Event used poker swatches? Weird. Some neat stuff though.

Phil Ivey Auto? YES! Sweet set....although I don't understand the Wild Card cuts....they make no sense to me.

Is it a poker card cut up that was used in some kind of tournament/event that that driver participated in? Confused....

Ummm....ok???? Don't get me wrong, I like my WSOP just like everyone else, but this is a bit much

The Cowboy hats rank right up there with the Santa Hats-pointless
If I want to try for a Hellmuth auto, I'd buy more Razor poker.

I thought last year's WAT release was great as far as the whole theme of it, and this is the same way, I really like the theme and the deck of cards insert is a great idea, but did they really have to include poker players into the base set?

The Wild Card Cuts just makes no sense to me. I'm only slightly impressed

I am not too sure about this release. I am a Nascar collector not a Poker Player collector. What is Nascar Card collecting getting like BaseBall now. Include everything from everything else??? Come on. If I buy this and pull a poker player auto, I am going to be highly ticked!!! Press Pass, you dropped the ball on this before it even came out.:rant:I usually like this release but I think I will pass this year. I will just look for my drivers on here or on the bay.

I agree with Keeb. This doesn't seem like a great approach for a revamped product. Nascar should be about Nascar. Not poker. I doubt highly I will buy a single box of these or even put the base set together.

The cards of the poker players are pretty nice, but they belong IN A POKER SET.

Press Pass is really screwing around with things too much.

I don't like the idea of "strangers" in the set - I have no idea who those poker players are so why waste cards on them?? And I'd be rather ticked off to pull one of those autographs as my auto for the box!!!

Stick to racing themes

This is different. I'm glad to see that Stremme is included.

Well I am not sure about this release, but I do have a question:

How are you gonna feel when your box "hits" are a Dennis Phillips auto and a Casey Mears and Elliott Sadler Wild Card Cuts?

Gonna feel no pain cuz I will pass on this set. Not every set is needed in my collection. But, next year they just may include the X-Games autos with tire patches and sliced skateboard wheels. Or better yet, get redeemed scratcher pieces of the lottery.

In all actuality, PP does pretty well overall, given that they are the only game in town.

why cant the cowboy hats be of texas winners with swatches of the hats they wear in victory lane???? atleast it would actually be from a race. Razor makes poker cards just like press pass does nascar cards, you dont see them putting out chris ferguson firesuit cards. the santa hats were ok because they came out aroud christmas time which made sense i guess. i've heard the poker auto's wont count as your guaranteed auto so that makes it a little better, i like certain parts of this set but some of it just doesn't fit in a racing product.

I am going to be getting some good Keselowski cards from this release!

I actually like the idea of the full deck of cards as a set... I probably will try to complete that....and how can you not want a "Billy Bad Butt" auto.....what's the heck is with that...yes I watched the race but who wants the auto of Rooties jack man or crew chief or what ever he was.....maybe a "Here Kitty Kitty" or a David Gilliand Idiot auto in a later release.

As always, anyone can get in on the case breaks (you've been in my case breaks in the past). :winking0071:

I will be posting the case break for the Main Event release later on this evening. I'm finally just getting the VIP release caught up. Watch for the case break to be posted soon!

Hey guys, here are some comments from the product manager for 2009 Wheels Main Event:

I just want to clarify a few things regarding this release. Based on a few of your comments, there are some misconceptions about the release and hopefully this will clear things up.

1. The poker pro autos are a bonus autograph (extra hit), and they're limited to 6 players. I know some of you don't know or care who Doyle Brunson is (think Dale Earnhardt Sr of Poker). However, you should have no problem finding someone to take his auto off your hands.

2. The Wild Card Cuts are limited to just two cards per driver...that's it! Essentially, if you pull the Dale Jr Wild Card Cuts, you're one of only two people in the world with one of those cards. I realize now that some of you saw the checklist and felt like these cards were a large part of the memorabilia in the set - not the case.

The cowboy hats and event-used playing cards are meant to be a fun bonus for people to collect. The race-used and driver-worn items and NASCAR autos are still the meat and potatoes of the release. Have a little faith in us!

3. Regarding the driver-worn and race-used memorabilia in the set:

We're improving the driver-worn hat program this year by introducing an over-sized patch version. The hats have some cool patches so we wanted to feature these with an over-sized swatch.
We're bringing back a few memorabilia items that collectors have been asking for - race-used pit signs and even some Dale Jr. lug nut cards http://s1.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif
We're also introducing a few new race-used items that we've never done - pit wall banners, pit stackers, and wheel covers. These items have some very cool graphics/sponsor logos which will make for some nice multi-color swatches! Main Event is the only place to find these items.

4. The THEME! - Look, we realize that not everyone likes or cares about poker (or science or American Presidents or Legends for that matter). Just give you ten sets a year with a racing theme and you'll be happy, right? Well, as some of you long-time collectors know ours Wheels brand has always been the fun/novelty brand that, although off-the-wall sometimes, makes collecting fun! Remember Knight Quest?? Come on...a Medieval-themed racing set?!

We felt High Gear and American Thunder were both starting to fall into a rut, so we made the decision to shake things up this year. We understand that some people are not going to buy a poker-themed set, but keep in mind, it's just a theme. The set is still NASCAR focused, and NASCAR fans won't be disappointed.

As part of the new and exciting things we've been doing here lately at Press Pass, I just want you guys to enjoy collecting and have fun with our products.

Thanks for your feedback on the product. I hope this clarifies things for you. Check our website and Facebook page for more updates as the live date approaches.

I've been getting some questions about the autos in this product!

I absolutely love the autograph design of this card - it is unique and very cool looking! You are correct...there are 4 different levels (suits) for each driver.

Clubs will be your base autograph level
Diamonds will be numbered 10-50, depending on the driver
Hearts will be numbered 5-10, depending on the driver
Spades will be your 1/1 cards

If you have any other questions, just let me know!
