I've been writing Negro League players for the past few years and have a nice selection of autos from these true LEGENDS of the sport, which can be found here:

Autographed Baseball Cards:
http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn256/puffster31/Negro%20League/Autographed%20Baseball%20Cards/ (http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn256/puffster31/Negro%20League/Autographed%20Baseball%20Cards/)

Autographed Index Cards and Customs:
http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn256/puffster31/Negro%20League/Autographed%20Index%20Cards%20and%20Customs/

Autographed Photos & 8x10s:
http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn256/puffster31/Negro%20League/Autographed%20Photos%20and%208x10/

Monte Ivrin Autographs:
http://s306.photobucket.com/albums/nn256/puffster31/Negro%20League/Monte%20Irvin/

I'm very proud of this collection. This is an era that in many aspects has been overlooked because typically no stats were kept . . . only stories past on from one Negro Leaguer to another.

Not only is that a great collection of autos....but a great collection of baseball history!! You ever think of taking a trip to the negro league museum???

When I write these great men and ask for an autograph, I also ask a little about their playing days - who they played with, toughest pitcher they faces, greatest hitter, etc. Many of them mentioned that if I wanted to know more about the history of the Negro Leagues that I should go to Memphis to see the museum. I have this on my sports wish-list to go there one day. Cooperstown is first, the Negro League Museum is second.

As you can see from my pics, I did have the tremendous opportunity to meet Ted Toles, Jr. at a card show in Ohio. Hartland made a statue of him (only 100 made) and he was selling and autographing the statues. I spoke with him at the booth and came back to continue our conversation a little later. His son then approached me and asked me if I was staying in my hotel, which I was, so he said he would give me a call later. After supper, they called and Ted talked for two hours about his playing days . . . you can about imagine that I was on cloud nine! Once in a lifetime opportunity - that still ranked in my top 10.

My wife and I also attended the Civil Rights game in Cincinnati this year (Hank Aaron, Muhammad Ali, Bill Cosby were honored) and also met Ted again at a Negro League Tribute Night in Ohio. Ted remembered me, remembered my family . . . as did his family. Also in attendance for that game were Reggie Howard, Dennis Biddle, Carl Long, and Jim Cobbin. I spent the majority of the game speaking with the players . . . again, great stories, remarkable men.

I do agree with you, this is history. Stats were not kept and many of these great athletes have passed and unfortunately, so have their stories. This era of baseball defines the game today.

very nice collection where did you get all the names and addresses

I purchased an autograph book from Harvey Meiselman that contains like 4 pages front and back of addresses. I have posted every address in this book in the baseball TTM section, which can be found in here:

http://www.sportscardforum.com/ttm.php

Here are the names of many of the guys I have in the TTM database:

http://www.sportscardforum.com/showthread.php?t=837775

Please remember to send return postage and if you can, send a signing fee $2-$5 to these athletes.

Good luck!

Awesome collection. I'm lucky enough to see Mr. Carl Long during the season at the Kinston Indians games. He has always got some autographed cards on him. I've got a handful of them and an autographed Carl Long minibat. Last year during Negro League Day at Kinston I got a ball signed by 14 guys and one lady. Can't remember her name. I also got Mr. Buck O'Neil before he died at an Indians game. Mr. Long is such a super nice, sweet guy, always has a story to tell.

your female negro league player is peanut johnson - the only surving female player in the Negro Leagues. there were 3 ladies that played, johnson was far better than her fellow female athletes.

there is a negro league tribute night on 9/3 in ohio. i went last year and have an awesome time. i don't know if your close to ohio but here is a link their site:
