I was wondering if there is any interest here for an weekly etopps games. Each week there will be a set of questions like baseball, who is going to win what games, Sosa hitting how many etc... and then the winner will take home the weeks worth of IPO cards. The entry fee would be like $5 a week via paypal (as long as we got enough interest) and if we have extra money then I would go out and buy 2nd and 3rd place prizes -or- buy cards to donate to the site for the store. Do you think we would have enough interest?

I think that's the moderator's call. But I'm game for this or other ideas out there. This is kinda like betting which is no problema with me because it only involves points.

Plunge, he means run his own type game and the $5 you submit to him will go towards buying prizes. I might be willing to do it just as long as there's a nice little group who's down. BTW, if anyone's interested, an etopps buddy of mine is doing an NCAA Bracket through ESPN. $10 PayPal entry and winner will receive 01 Stackhouse. Depending on how many people sign up, they'll be 2nd, 3rd, etc prizes but it all depends on how many people sign up. Let me know if any of you are interested and I'll fill you in on more info.

Yea I want to run a contest every week if we get like a good core going and get some extra money I can buy some cheap 2003 baseball or whatevers and donate them to BGray for the store. So its a win-win for everyone!

So far we have 3 people. Depending on how much the IPOs cost we only need like 2-4 more people.

Well IPOs are around $30-40 a week.


$6.50 * 6 = $39 but there will be $4.00 and $9.50 cards
Paypal spits back $4.55 from a $5.00 transaction so...

9 entries per week and we should be set.

do u have to stay in for every week?

By all means no! If you lose a week and have no money or want to spend it on other stuff or if your going to be gone then feel free to not play. But just don't ask for refunds or cards after you lose. LOL I've had problems with that before.

Tutall yes you can you can. Just send me the money via snail mail and I'll pay your entry with my paypal funds. To make it easier Tutall you can send a check for say like 3 weeks worth of games ($15) so you can play any 3 weeks you choose or something so you don't have to always send in money every week.

Winning/Losing Streaks/Total Runs Allowed/ in the week

Prizes Breakdown:

1st Place - All 6 IPOs for the week!
2nd Place - 50% of $ left over will be used to purchase Baseball Etopps Cards
3rd Place - 35% of $ left over will be used to purchase Baseball Etopps Cards
4th Place - 50 Points
5th Place - 25 Points
15% of it will be used to keep to buy new cards for the store!

In the event that we don't get enough people (7-9 people we need every week just to buy the IPOs) if like for example 50% of the left over $ is like $1 then that money can be used for either:

- Donation to the Store
- Used as "credit" for a future Etopps Challenge week

Ipster, are we going to predict 20 different possibilities each week? Is that a lot? It seems that way--but since I've never done this before, what do I know?

I like the idea of homeruns and # of strikeouts for a particular pitcher or # of innings or something like that for a particular player. I also like the team stats. This way you can predict more than the number 4 for home runs for the week.

I don't know if 20 is a lot. I hope not, hopefully if it is we will lower it. If its not enough we'll add more. Just put in your input so we can change the contest to everyone's liking.

I'll be in when I have extra cash. If it's not too late.

For one of the questions, could we have a prediction for how many HRs Bonds or some other hitter will have each week?

Lefty yup there is still time. The contest is weekly so even though you might not make this week you can always get in next week!
