A staple of the collecting season for many years, Bowman Chrome is back again. Utilizing a chrome coating, the base cards shine as always. However, there's a little overkill in the design. Instead of keeping the background clear, there's a criss-cross net design throughout the card. The biggest place it is noticable is when looking at the Xfractors as it is very hard to tell unless you turn the card at a certain angle to see the checkerboard pattern.

There are no inserts in Bowman Chrome, but plenty of various refractors. The refractors, mainly the rookies, is what drives collectors back year after year.

Bowman Chrome continues to be a set for prospecting collectors. With only one rookie autograph per box, this product is really all about the rookies. With one rookie per pack on average and a rookie refractor box loader, it's no wonder prospectors enjoy this release. In a change from previous years, this is a stand-alone product. What I mean is that in previous years, Bowman Chrome rookies were found in another release first and then you used this release to complete the set with the veteran cards being the second half of the set. This year, it's just the 110 veterans and the 55 rookies.

I've always been a fan of the Bowman and Topps Chrome product. Simple and to the point. I also agree that I would prefer a clean background.

One of the better products to get a bunch of RC's from but I think that Topps needs to look at adding maybe one more hit to the box and not raise the value that much for that.

For he design, I have liked better from years past compared to this years.

Nice break and review! Bowman (and Topps) Chrome is always a nice set, regardless of the sport...I just like the looks of the cards...although I do agree about the background...would've been nicer if they didn't change it. Thanks Topps!
