Admittedly, your article gets right to the heart of the matter: it's fun, yes, but like the dynamism that continually surrounds us, there's much more going on. Nostalgia, empowerment in a knowledge-base that for some (us) is familiar, thrill of the chase and the success (and failure...or it taking longer than we thought) building our collections and filling out our "want" lists, these are all reasons I recently got back in to our hobby after shelving it, with a few enthusiastic missteps, for over 20 years (Ken Griffey Jr. era, you nailed it). I'm in the process of completing my first sets, now in my mid-30's, but these are from my childhood and will definitely be sentimental and flipped through while watching games this 2013 season (1986 and 1987 Topps, 1989 Upper Deck). Thanks for a great article that got my head nodding in agreement and further excited for my return to this hobby. Cheers!
