My Life in Wrestling
Mar 10th
Michael Barton aka MonticelloCards
This may become an ongoing weekly column for SCF members exclusively, but for now I am not sure as I need to talk to some people who are in charge here in regards to doing work for some publicity for my companies. For now, consider these free issues about all of the behind the scenes and events I attend and work.
I spent this past weekend in Chinatown at The Sun Bright Hotel. I found the only hotel in Manhattan for under $60 bucks. You get what you pay for I guess, as it was a glorified dorm More >
The NBA Halfway
Mar 9th
By JP Bogardus aka KD35Russ0
Can the Big 3 from Miami thrive in the clutch? Can the young guns from Oklahoma City win big games against experienced teams? Can the defending champs regain their form? Do the Spurs have one last run in them? Will Kobe or Derrick Rose put their respective teams on their backs? All of these questions will be answered over the next few months and will eventually result in an NBA champion. There are several ways to go about this topic. I could go round by round, team by team, telling you why I think each team More >
The NFL Has a Problem with the Bounties
Mar 8th
By Guy Mitchell aka sweetg1
The NFL has a problem with the bounty situation, and everyone knows it. I’ll start this by saying that I agree with most that the NFL has become a league where you can’t hit anybody. It’s not the same football that I grew to love, where you can’t touch the quarterback and you dare not hit a “defenseless” receiver. I’ve seen many safeties pulling up or act tentative, not to deliver the blow that they were taught to deliver for what looked like fear of being fined. For some of the rule changes, I think they More >
Enough Already! Fighting Needs to Stay
Mar 6th
By Drew Pelto aka *censored*
The discussion of removing fighting from the game of hockey comes up every year under ridiculous pretenses. Sometimes it’s because of an injury in a fight. Other times it’s because of a major brawl. Much of the time it’s because Damien Cox is allowed near a computer. This time, it hasn’t been the NHL where the discussion is happening as much as it has at the lower levels of the game. A New York Times article came out this week discussing the issue (indirectly quoting yours truly on page two).
I should clarify “lower levels” for those More >
Sports Card Collecting, the Day I Got Hooked!
Mar 5th
By Jody Yarborough aka Mrjobe85
Let’s see where to begin to discuss this crazy relationship that some call a hobby but I prefer to call a lifestyle. Now, I’m going to tell you a little story about how I got addicted at an early age and how it has carried on for over twenty years. I started collecting baseball cards when I was only four years old. Now, as you all can probably figure, at that time being only four years old, I really didn’t understand the concept of the hobby of collecting sports cards. I loved the Atlanta Braves More >
Bountygate
Mar 4th
By JP Bogardus aka KD35Russ0
Even when the NFL isn’t in season it seems to dominate the headlines. Peyton Manning’s contract situation almost overshadowed the Super Bowl in Indianapolis and now this New Orleans Saints defensive bounty story is dominating the A-block on Sports Center day in and day out. I don’t want to get into a “he said – she said” type piece of writing here, where we are analyzing every word said about the subject and making a decision about an issue in which we don’t know all of the facts. Instead I’d like to bring up a point More >
