Upper Deck Sweet Shot Hockey 2007-2008

Descrition The 2007-08 Edition of UD Sweet Shot Hockey Edition is now out, and I must say that it is a rather nice looking product. This year, each tin includes five cards unlike last year where there were only four cards per tin. Of course, more often than not, the supplementary card will turn out to be a base card, but with a set of this quality, even base cards are exciting to pull. Each base card depicts the player in action against a coloured background which varies depending on the team he plays for. The design is further enhance More >

Organization is the Secret

I came back to collecting a year and three months ago, and while it was quite obvious to me that I wanted to collect Patrick Roy, I had no idea of the sheer volume of cards of his out there and of the level of organization it would take to seriously collect him. In the beginning, it was quite easy, I had nothing and therefore needed everything that was out there, but after a few months of solid trading, the situation changed drastically.

I realized that looking at Photobuckets and trying to remember what I did or did not have just More >

2007-2008 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection Hockey

As per previous years, there are also a lot of inserts and memorabilia included, and they will be detailed below in the checklist section. The cards are rather nice looking with a picture of the player in action with a different colour background depending which team the player belongs to. Down the left side of the card, there is a silver line including the Ultimate Collection, and More >

New Feature on Beckett, rumour or reality?

As avid collectors, we spend a lot of time on different boards, perhaps too much time (according to my husband anyways)…but the net advantage of rummaging through all of these boards is that you are aware of the developments in the hobby. Be it the “scandalously good video break done by Beckett” or the rumours of upcoming releases, if you spend enough time online, you are on the ball! Tonight, I heard about a rumour that I found both strange and incredible. As I said, it is only a rumour and has not been confirmed yet, but if it is More >

2007-2008 SP Authentic Hobby Box

Description The 2007-2008 offering of SP Authentic includes 100 base cards, 60 SP notables cards, 30 Rookie Future Watch cards and 60 autographed Rookie Future Watch cards. Each card features a picture of the player in action against a white background apart from the area immediately around the player which looks like a greyish ice surface. The sides of the card have a hint of the player’s team colour. Unlike many of its other releases, Upper Deck did not grace us with an array of parallel cards in this set, I bet the set collectors will be glad to hear this. More >

Who’s Hot on the West Side?

Well after last week’s look at the Eastern Conference’s stars in the playoffs so far, it is time to turn to the West (I wouldn’t want them to feel neglected). One of the Conference semi-finals is already over, and I will concentrate on the three teams still in the running for the big prize: Dallas, Detroit and San Jose. As for Colorado, they have been swept 4-0 by Detroit, but I think it is still worth mentioning Joe Sakic’s performance. In 10 games he posted 10 points, and he is now reportedly considering retirement. Well Joe whatever you decide, the fans More >
