The Greatest Birthday Ever, Or, How Carey Price Sang Happy Birthday to Me
Apr 11th
by RGM81 aka Richard McAdam
The festivities began at around 10:36pm on Thursday, April 7th. We had just returned home from the pub, and I tried to push my luck and ask if I could get one of my birthday presents early. Tasha was very happy to oblige, but first I had to give Orion (my cat) a kiss. Apparently I wasn’t going to see him all weekend – my first thought was, “Where are you sending him?” Then she pulled out the tickets to Toronto. Right away I knew we were going to be going to the Canadiens-Leafs game on Saturday. More >
The NHL Must Ban All Headshots
Mar 16th
By RGM81 aka Richard McAdam
It was just a little over a year ago that Sidney Crosby scored the goal of a generation, lifting Team Canada to a dramatic victory at the Vancouver Olympics. Today, the NHL’s best player and major marketing vehicle is out indefinitely due to the effects of post-concussion syndrome. On January 1st he was hit in the head by the elbow of David Steckel, a blindside hit – no penalty was assessed on the player. On January 5th he was hit from behind by Victor Hedman and his head struck the glass – no penalty was assessed More >
An Open Letter to the NHL
Mar 11th
by Richard McAdam aka RGM81
The following text is a copy of the letter I sent to the NHL Head Office in New York yesterday regarding the illegal and devastating hit by Zdeno Chara on Max Pacioretty, and the subsequent lack of supplementary disciplinary action by the NHL against Chara for the hit.

Feb 26th
by RGM81 aka Richard McAdam
In the 21st century, the main means any company has to connect to its customers is via the Internet. The World Wide Web brings information and insights to people in real time, allowing people and companies to connect instantaneously to share and distribute their experiences. When the title for Star Wars Episode III was revealed, it was done online at the Star Wars official website. If a celebrity has something to say to the world (in 140 characters or less), they take to their Twitter account. When a US presidential aspirant wants to spread the message, More >

The Tuffy Cool Pose
By Richard McAdam aka RGM81
Recently, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price made some headlines for striking a pose after turning aside five consecutive Pittsburgh Penguins shooters in a Canadiens 2-1 shootout victory.
In his post-game interview, Price referred to his friend “Tuffy Cool” and said that it was something that had been in the works for a while. What only very few people know is the true identity of “Tuffy Cool” – while the media went overboard in its dissection of Price’s intentions or motives with the simple pose, it was really little more than an inside joke between More >
The Worst Thing About the NHL Is the Officiating
Jan 24th
by RGM81 aka Richard McAdam
Hockey is an amazing game to watch. The speed, the skill, the drama, the personalities (as long as they’re not rookies or goalies), and the intensity are a pure joy to behold. Nowhere is this truer than in the National Hockey League, the premier professional hockey league in North America and indeed the world. The best players from all over the globe dream of playing in the NHL and competing for the Stanley Cup. The constant tinkering with the game’s rules has allowed for continuous product improvement that makes the game more exciting for fans to More >
