Cards of the Week
Was Paul Pierce’s injured knee really all it was cracked up to be? I’m kind of thinking against that.
After “hurting” his knee when Kendrick Perkins fell on him, Pierce was carried off the court by three people and rolled into the locker-room via wheelchair.
The scene looked awful, did it not?
Tom Withers of the Associated Press described the incident as such:
“Game over. Series over. Any chance for a 17th championship banner—over.
“I thought that was it,” Pierce said.
And then, Pierce returned, yet another dramatic comeback in a turnaround season for the Celtics.

What a week it was for Jay Bruce and for Topps.
Bruce debuted on Tuesday going 3-3 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base.
Topps released Series Two baseball today and announced that Finest Rookie Redemption #2 would feature Jay Bruce along with his signature.
The redemption cards have taken off to as high as the $100 levels on eBay and will only go up if Bruce continues to put up numbers at his debut pace.
In a week that has seen Ryan Braun sign a $45 million contract extension and hit two home runs in back to back games, eBay has also found a significant piece of Braun history.
The 2005 Bowman Chrome Superfractors Autographed Braun RC 1/1 has surfaced with a staggering asking price: $12,500 or best offer. So far, one offer has been rejected, and a second is pending after 970 page views.
This is truly Braun’s best card and will always be such. The seller, sportsagentsales, lists the card as “the best Braun investment card in the world, period.”

Joey Votto made top sports headlines on Wednesday after hitting three home runs in a 9-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.
One of his best selling cards before the feat was the 2002 Bowman Chrome Draft Xfractor.
On May 3, the card sold on eBay for $44. On May 7, the day he hit those homers, it sold for $76 and $61.
Currently, there is one at $46 with 20 hours left to go. Another seller is touting Votto as the next Ryan Braun in his Xfractor listing.
Votto will be a star, but he probably won’t achieve the success on the field or More >
Released on April 30, Topps Co-Signers baseball is now the talk of the baseball market.
Each pack contains five cards and one parallel or autograph card so collectors should have a decent chance of finding this Chamberlain/Hughes card or another card like it.
As two of the most promising pitchers in baseball, this card and all other combos of these two are just as hot as the newly released product.

Despite not having any games started or played in 2007, Pac Man Jones did still have some trading cards produced. He’ll be picking up an entire new legion of collectors after being traded to the Dallas Cowboys this week.
Jones, swapped for at least fourth round draft pick, may not even play for the Cowboys in 2008. He is still suspended after having almost ten run-ins with the law since being drafted in 2005.
If commissioner Roger Goodell decides to re-instate Jones, he will make an immediate impact on an already dominant Cowboys team and will compliment Roy Williams nicely on defense.
