Total QBR was created by ESPN to evaluate a Quarterback’s total contribution to the game. This would concern not only his passing numbers (as does the traditional Quarterback Rating), but it would also include his sacks, fumbles, his running ability, and penalties incurred.
I think it’s safe to say that the traditional Quarterback Passer Rating is outdated. I’d venture to say that 99.9% of today’s fans and experts could not recite the formula for today’s passer rating. I mean, who designs a system where 158.3 is the maximum rating? I think you take Pi – 3.1415926525 – More >

While I have been a Texas Rangers fan most of my life, I have really enjoyed watching them more the past few years than in the past. One might argue that is because they have been pretty freaking hot in the past few years (until they were one strike away from winning the World Series, that is). However, that is not why my level of enjoyment has increased.
If you have not spent much time watching the Rangers, prior to playoffs, much of their antics may seem odd. You see them behave more like a team of More >

Well, I started this as a reply to an article that I had read on here and I didn’t want to seem like I was hijacking the very well written article, so I decided to just make this its own separate thread.
Now, I can only speak from my experiences and my love of the hobby, so that is what I will use as a primary example to address some of the issues I’ve seen that others have with the hobby. (A.K.A.-The ramblings of an old man!)

As the 2011 season began the Oakland Raiders were confident that they were going to reward Al Davis with the team’s first playoff berth since 2002. Jason Campbell had a good command of the offense and Richard Seymour had the defensive troops playing with intensity and togetherness. Behind these two pillars were a plethora of emerging stars headlined by Darren McFadden and Jacoby Ford. This team was sure to make Mr. Davis proud. As the season began to unfold , surprises sprang up in numerous ways both positive and negative.

There’s something I haven’t been able to understand for a while now. Something that has really bothered me . We all sit down to watch out favorite sports whether it is football, baseball, basketball ,hockey and even racing. The one thing I always ask myself now is ; “ Where has the passion in the sport gone?” A lot of people will argue that it is still there, and there is nothing wrong in the world of sports today, is that the truth though?

Like many others, I am a big believer that teams such as Boise State deserve just as much of a chance of earning the title of college football’s national champion as schools from the power conference do, but under the current system, everyone knows it’s pretty unlikely to happen.
That, however, hasn’t stopped one writer from continuing to vote the Broncos as the No. 1 team in the weekly Associated Press poll, which does count when the Bowl Championship Series rankings are tabulated.
And it’s not a Broncos beat writer, either.
