Description The 2007-2008 hockey edition of SPx features a great looking base set which is sure to catch the eye of avid set builders. As per last year, the SPx pattern can be seen in the background of each base card along with a picture of the player in action, and a close up on his face on the right as below.
The box contains 18 packs and each pack contains four cards. In our box we pulled 67 base cards of the 100 included in the set and no duplicates. We also pulled four of the popular spXtreme inserts, one of More >
Fellow hockey cards collector, it’s that time of the year again…That’s right the playoffs are fast approaching and since you care enough about hockey to collect the cards, I am guessing you enjoy watching the matches and probably have an opinion on who will walk away with Lord Stanley’s cup this year.
To make the playoffs season more interesting, the staff at sportscardforum.com have come up with a contest for your enjoyment. It’s a good old hockey pool! So there you are, it’s your chance to prove that you would make a wonderful general manager, to win a prize, and of More >
When I started collecting again a little over a year ago, I asked myself what should be the main focus of my collection? With the hobby being incredibly orientated towards memorabilia and autographed cards, a lot of people seem to focus on getting as many of these as possible. Of course, some people prefer chasing rookies and would do anything to get the new superstars of tomorrow. As a hockey fan, I truly enjoy not only playing and watching the sport but also collecting the cards. Since I moved to the United Kingdom in 2002, both the playing and watching have been quite difficult to accomplish, and I must admit that the collecting side of it is not easy either. No I’m not talking about autos or patches or anything like that. I’m talking about something that may not come to mind when you think of a hobby milestone. Not only do they help “fake out” a pack searcher, they have many unseen uses. I bet the last half of that sentence made you think twice. But yes, I am talking about the thick white decoy.
I know, I know, it is frustrating when your shop owner hands you a few packs and instead of a nice quad patch you pull a decoy. So now you go home More >
Admit it, you break a box, and you don’t know what to do with those nifty little rectangle cardboard pieces. There’s a name on it, there’s a picture on it, and probably not so interesting info on the back. Some years ago people collected them. Today, you couldn’t care less, base cards year 2008 are ugly, pointless, sloppy designed, colorless. You’re a predator, you’re only going for the meat, the backbone of today’s collecting – game-used, autographs, and rookies. That 90% of these are just as worthless doesn’t worry you, it’s the Crosby’s, Gretzky’s and other goodies that makes your More >
