Unpredictable, Entertaining, the Cup!
Jun 17th
By Jon Maxfield aka DnJcards
The crowd is hush as the final moments tick off the clock and another team’s season comes to an immediate halt as the final two teams are set. The “never say die” attitude of the New Jersey Devils has helped them come out of nowhere in these Stanley Cup Playoffs as they eliminated the Florida Panthers in seven games before making relatively quick work of Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers in five games. They then went on to shocking everyone by disposing of the gritty, number one seeded, New York Rangers in six games. The More >
Detroit Red Wings Offseason Buzz- Who Stays, Who Goes, and What’s Next
Jun 2nd
By Paul Bartosz aka wogman56
Being from northern Michigan, some of my fondest memories growing up were listening to hockey games announced by the legendary Mickey Redmond. Mickey has a way of painting a picture, if you will, while broadcasting games. Since Mickey called the Stanley Cup winning goal by Darren McCarty in 1997, winning has become expected, not accepted amongst Wings fans. After McCarty and the Wings ended a 42 year drought in Motown by hoisting Lord Stanley’s chalice, the Wings followed it up by winning the cup in 1998, 2002, and 2008 as well.
Now, in the offseason of 2012, More >

With the Eastern Conference Final now in the books, I know that we hockey fans have a great Stanley Cup final to look forward to, with the New Jersey Devils taking on the Los Angeles Kings. In less than a couple of weeks, we’ll all know which team has won the Stanley Cup. Those of us tuning in will get to see what should only be More >
On Bounties and the Integrity of Professional Sports

When it was revealed that the New Orleans Saints staff were running a “bounty program” which rewarded players for inflicting injuries on opposing players, shockwaves were sent throughout the sports world. People were, quite rightly, aghast at the idea of player bonuses for laying hits that resulted in other athletes being carted off the field or landing on the injured player list. The NFL conducted an investigation and came down incredibly harshly on the Saints, suspending coach Sean Payton for the entire 2012 season and banning defensive coordinator Gregg Williams from the NFL indefinitely. NHL Western Conference Playoff Preview
Mar 29th
By Sean McCafferty aka 30ranfordfan
With teams having about ten games remaining, now appears to be a great time to look back on my early season predictions, see how badly I called this year’s NHL race to unfold, and make a few bold predictions as to what will happen between now and when Lord Stanley’s Mug is handed out.
My early season predictions for the Western Conference had a nice mix of accuracy, and being totally off base. Of the five teams I considered to be playoff locks, four of them are looking very good. Vancouver and Detroit are sitting in very More >
