My Formative Years
Mar 17th
By Michael Roche aka DiebytheCubs
This Sunday, I will be turning 20 years old. Unfortunately, birthdays now are not the momentous occasions they were when I was younger. Each year, the presents now get blander and I am less excited to grow up. While a pack of socks may make a good present this year, years ago that would never have been the case. When I was younger, I would get excited for a Hot Wheels track or Super Soaker. Those toys were fun, but they rarely lasted. Thirteen years ago though, I was given my best birthday present ever, my More >

Sports Card Collecting…A Love-Hate Relationship

Listed as a 1/1 because his jersey number is 21
I have been collecting sports cards for over twenty years now and I still enjoy it just as much as I did when I was five years old. I still go to the hobby shop on the weekend and shoot the breeze with the owner and I still watch eBay for hours at a time in hopes of getting that last second bid in on that certain card that I have been watching for a week. Heck even when I go to Wal-Mart for grocery shopping you More >
The NBA Halfway
Mar 9th
By JP Bogardus aka KD35Russ0
Can the Big 3 from Miami thrive in the clutch? Can the young guns from Oklahoma City win big games against experienced teams? Can the defending champs regain their form? Do the Spurs have one last run in them? Will Kobe or Derrick Rose put their respective teams on their backs? All of these questions will be answered over the next few months and will eventually result in an NBA champion. There are several ways to go about this topic. I could go round by round, team by team, telling you why I think each team More >
The NFL Has a Problem with the Bounties
Mar 8th
By Guy Mitchell aka sweetg1
The NFL has a problem with the bounty situation, and everyone knows it. I’ll start this by saying that I agree with most that the NFL has become a league where you can’t hit anybody. It’s not the same football that I grew to love, where you can’t touch the quarterback and you dare not hit a “defenseless” receiver. I’ve seen many safeties pulling up or act tentative, not to deliver the blow that they were taught to deliver for what looked like fear of being fined. For some of the rule changes, I think they More >

Sports Card Collecting, the Day I Got Hooked!
Mar 5th
By Jody Yarborough aka Mrjobe85
Let’s see where to begin to discuss this crazy relationship that some call a hobby but I prefer to call a lifestyle. Now, I’m going to tell you a little story about how I got addicted at an early age and how it has carried on for over twenty years. I started collecting baseball cards when I was only four years old. Now, as you all can probably figure, at that time being only four years old, I really didn’t understand the concept of the hobby of collecting sports cards. I loved the Atlanta Braves More >

Why I Collect
Feb 28th
By Robert Bullough aka Kurri17
As collectors, the cards we collect and our reasons for collecting vary widely. We all have our story, especially us old guys, and here is mine.
I remember the first card I ever owned, a 1971 Topps Dick Green. I was seven. I don’t recall how it came into my possession, nor did I realize what that single card was going to inspire. I’ll be honest, at that time I didn’t even know who Dick Green was, with the only athlete that I recall having knowledge of at that time being Johnny Unitas. But the times they More >
